1 19 th International Conference on Metallurgy and Materials May 18 th - 20 th 2010 Roznov pod Radhostem, Czech Republic, EU Instructions for authors of papers and posters Dear Sir, Madam, Conference proceeding consists of printed form of list of papers & posters with abstracts and CD-ROM containing full text of papers/posters. Below you can find guidelines (layout, style and format) for paper and presentation. Abstract/Paper - General Guidelines The abstract and paper text should be submitted in English. Please use a text editor MS Word, the A4 format, 20 mm all edges and 1.4 spacing. The recommended length for abstract is up to 250 words, for paper up to 6 pages of text including pictures. Please send us your abstract/paper formatted according to below stated template - Directions on one s behalf preparation text benefit..., see page 2, 3. Presentation - General Guidelines The presentation should take app. 15 minutes. Please follow below mentioned instructions for presentation, see page 4. Poster - Size of a poster is 150cm (Height) x 100cm (width) max. We would like to inform you that you can register to the conference and send full text of papers/posters till deadline March 15 th 2010 at the latest. Program of the conference and other information will be available on the conference web site during February For your information, the conference fees will be as follows: Authors of papers and posters 240 EUR Other participants 280 EUR PhD. students (daily study) with paper or poster 140 EUR PhD. students (daily students) without paper or poster 160 EUR Publication of paper without attendance 120 EUR Official letter of invitation 20 EUR Official Invitation Letter will be issued and posted only when payment of full conference fee is made. (The price includes VAT, organization costs, proceedings, collective catering) The participants will cover the board and their accommodation by themselves. The paper/poster will not be published in the conference proceedings without payment of the conference fee. For text part use 10 points and spacing 1.4 and align the text in block. The recommended length of a paper is up to 6 pages of text, including pictures. 1. SECTION We recommend to split the text to numbered sections and subsections, for example 1.1, 1.2 etc. It is recommended to use 1.4 line spacing. However, when using more complicated mathematical formulas, it is necessary to extend slightly the space between lines so that the upper and lower index fonts are legible. The text should be typed in such a way to complete the given frame entirely. There are only two exceptions from this rule: (i) do not start to type the new chapter name on the last line, (ii) you may exceed the frame only by one line at the bottom, to complete a paragraph. Use the italic type to highlight some text. 1.1 Subsection Please use the Arial font with size 10 points in subsections. 1.2 Proceedings papers Proceedings papers will be issued: on paper, abstracts according to the authors and breakdown by symposia in electronic form on CD-ROM - full text papers including images. Having regard to the electronic form of proceedings is possible to include color images and graphs as well. Please page on bottom in the middle and use the specific header and footer for writing paper. In the case of very larger file (tens of megabytes), please compress it. EQUATIONS Equation must start directly on the left-hand edge, and their implementation should be similar to the following example: Q & ε = A exp sinh RT ( α σ ) n p Using a slash ( / ) in equations is not desirable, though it is possible to use it on a text line. Physical quantities must be typed according to the valid standards. 2

3 3. TABLES AND ILLUSTRATIONS It is recommended to place tables and illustrations into the text, on the page with the first notice or reference, if possible. In case of a table, leave two free lines, type Table 1., the name of a table on a new line, then leave one more line and place a table. If the table is too long, please repeat its number on the following page again, together with headings for individual columns. Fig. 1. Tensile test Illustrations have to be original or quality scanner. We will not accept bad photocopy. Please type a number Fig. 1. and text under the illustration on same row. Descriptions for illustrations should be clear and legible. We assume computer insert lines, graphs and their input by runaround. Illustrations and graphs must be part of a paper. If you have any questions, please write to info@metal2010.com. LITERATURE REFERENCES References to sources used should be placed immediately below end of main text. Do not start on a new page it is not needed. References to the literature highlight the text in Arabic numbers, number continuously and include the reference numbers in order as they appear in the text. 4 INSTRUCTIONS FOR POWERPOINT PRESENTATION PowerPoint presentation should be sent to as soon as possible, deadline is May 14 th at the latest. Also, you can upload it personally min. half an hour before presentation of your paper. Please name file of your presentation: Your last name_conference NAME i.e: Smith_METAL2010 The range of presentation could be up to 20 MB. Supported file formats: ppt - PowerPoint Presentation (MS Office 2000 a PowerPoint) pptx - PowerPoint Presentation (MS Office PowerPoint) pdf - (Adobe Acrobat Reader) Requirements Presentation should be well-arranged and legible. Font size for headlines: 40, main text app. 30, min 20. Pictures, graphs, tables and its description should be sharp and visible from a distance.
