7 WHAM 5 th Grade Supply & Required Reading Summer 2016 Dear New Fifth grade students and Parents, During the summer you will be required to read the novel Number the Stars written by Lois Lowry. I am requesting that you read this book during summer so that you will be prepared to study the book when we begin school in August. We will be doing an in-depth study on World War II. I am recommending that you purchase your own paper-back copy of the book in order to write and take notes directly in the book. We will not take an A/R test until we complete the book in class. Please read as much as possible over the summer. The more you read and write, the more prepared you will be for Fifth grade! A great idea is to read and write something every day of your summer break! If you have any questions, feel free to me during the summer at erayner@ebrschools.org.
