Have you ever set up a still life and painted it?

Onions seem to be among the favorite artists subjects.

Shine a spot light on the set up and move it around, higher and lower for best lighting, and check for shadows.

Try moving objects around to make it interesting and think of good composition. A good idea is to photograph your layout from several angles to capture the best view.

You may get several good views for painting from one set up.

We already had a small E-1 tornado just 3 miles from here that uprooted or broke trees, power lines and a few roofs got a little damage, thankfully we had no damage. Nothing like the damage of the tornados of the Mid-West and South. Many of you are in the clutches of winter and hopefully you have a warm and cozy place to have a hot coffee or tea and work at your easel. Have you ever set up a still life and painted it? You are in for a treat if you will set something up, like fabric background, fruit, veggies, vase, box, flowers, or your favorite objects of interest. Onions seem to be among the favorite artists subjects. You may want to use a large cardboard box to cut out the background and exterior light to concentrate on your still life set up. Shine a spot light on the set up and move it around, higher and lower for best lighting, and check for shadows. You may want to set up on a higher or lower table or plane to be nearer your eye level to view as you paint. Try moving objects around to make it interesting and think of good composition. A good idea is to photograph your layout from several angles to capture the best view. Continue to move and prop up items to get more interest, maybe drape a necklace, a flower or other item to add a point of interest to the overall still life. You may get several good views for painting from one set up. You may have to replace the veggies and the fruit if you take a longer period of time, but you can eat them so nothing is lost or wasted. I am so excited to advise you that HIGHWAYMAN, ROBERT L. LEWIS HAS AGREED TO BE OUR GUEST ARTIST FOR TEAM He will come in Thursday in time for vendor s night and will set up as a vendor and will also be allowed to stay set up for Friday. His class will be a 6 hour class Friday morning to the afternoon and he will be leaving after his class. Robert is the only Highwayman artist that I know of right now that is actually travel-teaching. The others are still making the circuit, painting and selling, but Robert is still teaching. He is a fantastic teacher and I know that everyone who takes his class is going to love him. He is a very charming and genuine man who loves to teach and it shows. The Highwayman artists are a famous group of artists who sold Florida subject paintings along the Florida Highways. Looking forward to seeing all of you, Gloria SE Regional President

Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will keep for weeks. When boiling corn on the cob, add a pinch of sugar to help bring out the corn's natural sweetness. Don't throw out all that leftover wine: Freeze into ice cubes for future use in casseroles and sauces...left over wine? Well, they are said to never cross a chalk line. So, get your chalk out and draw a line on the floor or wherever ants tend to march. Use air-freshener to clean mirrors. Fill the bottle with water, drop in four Alka Seltzer tablets, and let soak for an hour (Or longer, if necessary). Unclog a drain. Clear the sink drain by dropping three Alka Seltzer tablets down the drain followed by a cup of Heinz White Vinegar. Wait a few minutes, and then run the hot water.
