Violin Viola Cello Double Bass Harp Trumpet French Horn Trombone Tuba Flute Oboe Clarinet Bassoon Saxophone Timpani Keyboard Percussion (xylophone, marimba, vibraphone) Due Date: A day classes - January 22, 2018 B day classes - January 23, 2018 This project will count as your final exam for this class. There will be a penalty of 5 points per day for projects turned in late. Your answers do not need to be in complete sentences unless noted in the question. What is the name of your instrument? What family of instruments does it belong to? Name at least two (2) related Instruments. (10 pts.) What materials is the instrument made of?
3 Name three (3) different parts of the instrument. (10 pts.) When was the instrument invented or created? Give the exact year if known. If the exact year is not known, give a time frame (for example, in the early 1500 s) Briefly describe, in two to three complete sentences, how the instrument is played. Include the following information: How do you hold the instrument? What do you do to make a sound? How do you change notes? (15 pts.)

These will be pieces that were originally composed to feature the instrument (hint: the name of the instrument will probably be in the title of the piece). You MUST Include the complete and exact title, the name of the composer, AND the year it was composed. (30 pts.) List the websites that you used to find your information

6 EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY: You may earn up to 10 points of extra credit on the research project by creating a Google Slides presentation about your instrument. Please follow these guidelines for the presentation: Your presentation must have a title slide plus a minimum of 4 additional slides (5 slides total). The title slide must include the name of your instrument, your name, and your class period. Each slide besides the title must include the following: A minimum of three facts about your instrument (based on the information you used to complete the research project). At least one illustration/graphic/photo. A different one must be used on each slide. Some suggestions for your illustrations are: A photo of the instrument A photo of someone playing the instrument A labelled diagram of the instrument identifying at least four different parts of the instrument You may use illustrations and photos that you find online. Be creative. Use colorful, thematic backgrounds and animations and transitions as you choose. Extra credit points will be given according to this rubric: Title slide with complete information 1 point 4 slides each complete with 3 facts and at least one illustration/photo Creativity: backgrounds/animations/transitions used to enhance the presentation 2 points per slide (8 points total) 1 point
