2 Students will need to have prior knowledge of basic rhythmic notation and absolute pitch names. Performance GOALS Linkup The Orchestra Sings GOAL 1 I can play and sing Simple Melody A! The student can demonstrate correct playing position, beautiful tone, and appropriate ensemble behavior.! The student will be able to sing, read, and play (recorder) melodies using B, A, G (solfege, absolute pitch names, traditional counting)! The student can play concert repertoire: Simple Melody A GOAL 2 I can play and sing Come to Play! The student will be able to sing, read, and play a recorder melody using B, A, G, high C D! The student can play concert repertoire: Come To Play Pt.2 GOAL 3 I can play and sing Ode to Joy in G! The student will be able to sing, read, and play a recorder melody using B, A, G, high C D! The student can play concert repertoire: Ode to Joy GOAL 4 I can play and sing New World Symphony! The student will be able to sing, read, and play a recorder melody using low tones C, D, E! The student can play concert repertoire: New World Symphony GOAL 5 I can play Simple Gifts I can describe and demonstrate audience etiquette! The student will be able to sing, read, and play a recorder melody using all tones in the D Major Scale! The student can describe and demonstrates appropriate audience etiquette 2
3 Simple Melody When we sing a simple melody, and we blend our notes together. It makes something more of you and me, when we sing together. And no matter that we re far apart, or misunderstand each other, Music always seems to reach our hearts, and bring us all together. Like sisters and brothers the feeling is strong. With one another, our hearts raised in song. When we sing a simple melody, and we blend our notes together It makes something more of you and me, when we sing together. Come to Play Winds blow, trumpets sounding, strings sing. Drummers p- p- p- p- p- p pounding, Drummers p- p- p- p- p- p pounding. Come to play, join sound with sound, Come to sing we ll shake the ground with song! What do you do with time? Make it groove, make it move, make it rhyme. What do you do with song? Make it sing, make it ring, make it strong, make it long! What do you do with sound? Make it cry, make it fly, make it gleam, make it your dream! (Repeat as in beginning) 3
4 Ode to Joy Verse 1- Joyful as we join in singing, Anthems old yet strong and bright. Near and far to all we re bringing Voices filled with hope and light. Verse 2- Joyful in the songs we re singing, Joined in music and in word. With the power that we re bringing As one voice we will be hears. Chorus: Singing brings us all together When our voices would be small. Gives us power undivided, now united one and all.
