Every year the Turkish people going to Mecca or Hajj ere sent rom Üsküdar no a suburb o modern-day stanbul. On the irst day o spring a procession begins leading to Mecca in commemoration o love and celebration o aith. Robert W. The orchestra should match the violin(s) ith the legato style as they enter at measure 9. The percussion s rhythmic interaction beginning at measure 17 is crucial to the overall eect o the piece. t is the percussion that ill provide the timbral and rhythmic lavor o the Turkish culture. The bongos provide a similar sound to the Turkish doumbek. Hoever i possible you may ish to procure doumbeks or cultural authenticity. ould suggest isolating each rhythmic igure in the percussion to ensure accuracy. rom there add individual lines to ensure balance in the percussion and rhythmic understanding by the orchestra. The staccato eighth notes should be very light ith eight given to the quarter notes. As a teaching technique ould suggest directing the orchestra to sing this ostinato rhythmic pattern along ith the percussion to ensure accuracy or all.
