3 End of Life 1 End of Life Products reach the end of their Product Life Cycle for a number of reasons. These reasons may be due to market demands, technology innovation and development driving changes in the product, or the products simply mature over time and are replaced by functionally richer technology. While this is an established part of the overall product life cycle, Rohde & Schwarz Systems recognizes that end-of-life milestones often prompt companies to review the way in which such end-of-sale and end-of-life milestones impact the Rohde & Schwarz products in their networks. With that in mind, we have set out below Rohde & Schwarz's end-of-life policy to help customers better manage their end-of-life transition and to understand the role that Rohde & Schwarz can play in helping to migrate to alternative Rohde & Schwarz platforms and technology. What does this mean? It means you should take action. After November 1 st 2014, Rohde & Schwarz will no longer sell R&S DVS-SAN Mephisto. After that date, security updates, technical support or replacement parts will only be provided for the current support contracts and those won t be extended for this product. It is important that you migrate to a current supported product family so you can receive regular updates or support to guarantee to proper operation of the system. You will need to ensure that you have a current and fully paid support contract with Rohde & Schwarz DVS. Please contact your Support Account Manager regarding fees payable during the end-of-life period so that we can support you right through the end-of-life transition period. 5 Substitute Products 3 Substitute Products R&S DVS-SAN Mephisto is being discontinued due to market demand, shifts in technology, and a change in focus and investment. There will not be a direct replacement for R&S DVS-SAN Mephisto services within R&S s product portfolio. Due to different techniques used in our products, like space pre-allocation when copying or moving, fragmentation has become less common by using our newest software products. We understand that this announcement may be unwelcome news to you and your organization. To facilitate the transition, defragmenting tools for NTFS and Stornext will still be available in Spycer for DVS-SAN. End of Service R&S DVS-SAN Mephisto 5
