18 Energy Consumption Considered aspects for scenarios: - Use of Multimedia/Internet will be 100% widespread within 20 years - Networking of white goods will take 40 years for 100% saturation - Saturation of households in blocks will take slightly longer - Saturation of lighting will take substantially longer - Assumption has been made that networking is possible without the need of additional wiring Page 18

22 Summary - Networking in households will increase electricity demand substantially, and will even be the most relevant component of the growth in households - Networking does not very much support energy efficiency - All efforts to avoid the predicted increase have to be taken Page 22
