10 Getting Started Welcome to the World of Connecting the TV Thank you for purchaing thi Sony LCD Digital Color Televiion. Thi manual i for model KDL-40V2500 and KDL-46V2500. The packing box contain acceorie that are lited on page 44. For optimum picture performance, your new BRAVIA TV i capable of receiving high definition programming through it integrated tuner. It i alo capable of receiving HDTV content from a cable or atellite box via the video input (HDMI and Y/PB/PR component video; ee page 14). To diplay clear, crip picture, your TV mut be connected properly. To properly connect your TV, follow the baic connection provided in thi ection. Advanced connection example are provided in the eparate Quick Setup Guide accompanied with your TV. The Quick Setup Guide provide a variety of optional equipment connection diagram. It i trongly recommended that you connect the antenna/cable input uing the upplied 75-ohm coaxial cable to receive optimum picture quality. A 300-ohm twin lead cable can be eaily affected by radio frequency, reulting in ignal deterioration. When the antenna/cable connection i done, you mut perform an Initial Setup o your TV will create a lit of channel you can view (ee page 18). After you can receive and view programming you hould elect the proper Wide Mode etting to diplay the picture in your preferred apect ratio. See Changing the Wide Screen Mode on page 21 and 29. Cable Sytem and/or VHF/UHF Antenna Sytem Connecting a cable ytem or an external VHF/UHF antenna to the VHF/UHF input will allow you to enjoy high definition and tandard definition digital programming (if available in your area) along with the tandard definition analog programming. 15 Getting Started Intalling the TV Preventing the TV from Toppling Over Attaching the Support Belt Getting Started TV tand tand 1 Screw the upport belt (upplied) to the TV tand with a wood crew (upplied). 2 Attach the upport belt to the tand with the ecuring crew (upplied) uing a coin, etc. 3 Adjut the length by pulling the upport belt toward you while holding the tand. Be ure to take meaure to prevent the TV from toppling over and cauing injury. The upplied wood crew may not be ued depending on the type of TV tand. In thi cae, or when the ecuring trength i not enough, ue commercial crew 3 to 4 mm (1/8 to 3/16 inche) diameter to fit to the TV tand. Conult your dealer about the type of crew. 15

17 Getting Started When Intalling on a Wall Thi TV can be intalled on a wall by uing a wall-mount bracket (old eparately). Be ure to ue the pecified Wall-Mount Bracket (ee page 3). Before mounting the TV on a wall, you mut remove the Table-Top Stand from the TV. Follow the tep below to remove the Table-Top Stand, and then refer to the intruction guide Intalling the Wall-Mount Bracket to prepare the intallation and mount the TV on the wall. Do not remove the Table-Top Stand for any reaon other than to wallmount the TV. Getting Started Follow the imple tep below to remove the Table-Top Stand: 1 Diconnect all the cable from the TV. 2 Place the TV, with it creen facing down, on a table, oft clothcovered work urface. 3 Rotate the cable holder by 90 degree, and pull it out. 4 Remove the four crew and the Table-Top Stand from the TV. For bracket intallation, refer to the intruction guide Intalling the Wall- Mount Bracket provided with the TV. Sufficient expertie i required in intalling thi TV, epecially to determine the trength of the wall for withtanding the TV weight. For product protection and afety reaon, Sony trongly recommend that you ue the Wall-Mount Bracket model deigned for your TV and the wall-mounting of your TV hould be performed by Sony dealer or licened contractor. You can elect from the following label for each input: Video 1-7, DVD, Cable Box, Satellite, BD, VCR, Receiver, DVR, Game, Camcorder, Edit, Skip Video 8, PC, Edit, Skip Edit allow you to create a cutom five-character label. If you elect Skip, your TV kip thi input when you pre the TV/VIDEO button. The Skip label i ueful for input to which no equipment i connected. 32

33 Uing the Menu Option Auto YC When connecting both VIDEO IN and S VIDEO IN, you can elect the jack from which the TV receive the input ignal. The TV i by default et to receive S VIDEO input ignal. 1 Pre TV/VIDEO repeatedly until the deired video input appear. 2 After electing the Auto YC option, to watch the picture input from the S VIDEO input jack: Pre V/v to highlight On, then pre. To watch the picture input from the VIDEO input jack: Pre V/v to highlight Off, then pre. Timer Setting Sleep Timer Set the time in minute (Off, 15 min, 30 min, 45 min, 60 min, 90 min, or 120 min) that you want the TV to remain on before hutting off automatically. Power Saving Light Senor Quiet Power On Decription Timer You can ue the Timer to turn the TV on, turn it off, and tune to a pecific channel at a cheduled time. The Timer feature will not be available until you et the Current Time. 1 Pre V/v to highlight one of the following option, then pre. Set: Select to et the timer by Day, Time, Duration, Channel and Volume Setup. Off: Select to turn off the timer. (Your previou etting are aved.) 2 If you elected Set in tep 1, pre V/v/B/b to et the day(), hour, minute, AM/PM, duration, channel number (VHF/UHF, CATV or Digital), and volume. To return to the Timer Setting after programming the Timer or Current Time, pre B. Timer will be et to Off when: - Auto Program for analog channel i executed. - the AC power cord i diconnected and then reconnected to turn the TV on and the Current Time i diplayed a --: Select to et the current time (day, hour, minute, and AM/PM). 1 Pre to elect Current Time. 2 Pre V/v/B/b to et the current time (day, hour, minute, and AM/PM). Current Time 3 Pre MENU to exit Setting. Select to reduce the power conumption by adjuting the backlight brightne. Thi alo enhance the black level. Select from Off, Low, High and Picture Off. Select On to enable the automatic picture (creen) brightne control. The light enor meaure the room brightne which allow the TV to automatically adjut the backlight brightne baed on the picture etting and the ambient room light condition. Be ure not to put anything around the enor, a it function may be affected. In low light the range of the backlight control i reduced when Light Senor i et to On.
