4 GENERAL INFORMATION The PSDF 2000 digital converter cassette This converter cassette can covert two digital radio stations according to DVB-S 1) standard which are broadcast with QPSK 2) -modulation by satellite, into the UHF FM waveband. The RDS station code is automatically taken from the station name of the transponder or is entered manually. This makes it possible to show it in the display of an RDS-compatible UHF receiver. All settings are made automatically using the keyboard of the operating unit of the corresponding head end. The dialog guidance is conducted in the 2-line LC display which is activated when a button is pressed (if not button is pressed for around 5 minutes, the display switches off automatically or it is displayed in the software version of the control unit). The unit is controlled in the GRUNDIG Professional head-end systems PSU 8, PSU 12 and PGT 8. Note: Please note that before inserting the new cassette in existing head ends, it may be necessary to perform a software update on the control unit or The control unit must be replaced. This unit requires an control unit with the following software version: STC 316 V. 30 or higher STC 332 V. 30 or higher STC 1200 V. 30 or higher If required, you can call up the software version and display it: 1 Press any two buttons on the control unit of the head end simultaneously, e.g.»+«and» «and hold them down until the following occurs: The display goes dark and after approx. 5 seconds the software version is displayed, e.g. V. 30. 5 INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION Installing the unit in the head end The following section described the procedure for installing and connecting this cassette in the head end as well as setting the digital satellite station and selecting the output channel of the head end. SAT INPUT B SAT INPUT A RS 232 Note: Before changing the cassette or fitting a new one, always disconnect the head end from the mains. 1 If necessary: unscrew the input distributor of the head end and fold it up or remove it. 2 Unscrew the fastening screws from the bracket, then push the cassette into a free slot and fasten it with the screws. 3 Plug the SAT HF input cable into the SAT INPUT A HF input socket(s) (channel strip A) and /or SAT INPUT B (channel strip B) (see illustration). 4 Reconnect the head end to the mains power supply. The cassette now is now connected to all the necessary supply voltages and data cables and is ready for operation. ENGLISH 5

6 THE MENU Notes: To select the different menus and menu items, press»«. Press»«and hold it down for longer than 2 seconds to return to the menu start without saving. In the menus, use the» «buttons to select the required parameters and then select the required values with the»+ or «buttons. Volume AUDIO OUT 0 db Adjusting the volume Differing volume levels of the cassettes can be compensated. This adjustment is only possible in eight volume levels. 1 Press the»«button, the»audio OUT«menu appears in the display. 2 Adjust the volume level as you think fit with the»+ or «buttons.
