Courses Students will learn the basic courses in Acting during their first and second years, and choose the courses in Dance Theatre, Opera, Musical Theatre and Peking Opera during their third and fourth 1
years. The acting courses for the first and second years are as follow: Fundamentals of Acting(I) Creation tasks of performance arts and the qualities of actors, drama game practices, improvisational performance practice, and basic theory of performance. Fundamentals of Acting(II) Observing life, stage action, specified situation, practice of observing life, practice of performance creation or short sketch and basic theory of performance. Fundamentals of Acting(III) Literature works adaptation, stage event, conflict, relationship between different roles, creation practice according to adaptation of literature works and basic theory of performance. Acting Skill(I) Scripts analysis, role analysis, interior and exterior techniques for creating characters, performance creation theory. Acting Skill(II) Scripts analysis, role design and expression, creation of character s personality, Chinese and foreign fragments in ancient and modern times, script fragments of various styles and schools, and performance creation theories. Solfeggio Basic music theory, numbered musical notation, musical notation, melodic interval, Solfeggio, speed and rhythm. Vocal Music(I) Basic theory of vocal music, breathing and vocalization, singing practice and vocal works. Vocal Music(II) Basic theory of vocal music, formation of correct vocal habits, expression of singing and artistic process of vocal works. Vocal Music(III) Sound production fundamentals, range extension, combination of emotion, sound, words and expressions, and artistic process of works with various styles. Vocal Music(IV) Chorus, ensemble, harmonious balance between different voice parts, singing skills and artistic process of multi-voice parts works. Speech Fundamentals (I) Basic theory of basic lines techniques practice of breathing, vocalization, resonance, word-spit and tongue twisters practice. Speech Fundamentals (II) Basic knowledge and skill of Lines, breathing, sound production, word-spit, change of speech speed and rhythm, breathing and vocalization in movement, high and low voice, timbre modification, skill training on breathing and speech in the state of crying and smiling. Speech Technique (I) Efficient application of basic line technique in language expression, artistic process of prosy and verse literature works, grasp and application of language expression approaches such as stress, pause, intonation etc., literature works analysis and practical application of line writing. 2

About The Central Academy of Drama The Central Academy of Drama was the first theatre higher educational institution of the People's Republic of China. Now it is affiliated to China's Ministry of Education and is ranked as one of the best top-level drama and stage arts institutions in China.
