Yes, you may secure locations, cast/crew, equipment and music before the challenge begins however all other aspects of the film including: writing, wardrobe, props, shooting, editing, and effects must be completed within the 48- hour time period. This must be followed and is strictly enforced. What happens if I don't get my film in on time? 7 pm EST on Sunday, September 30th, 2018 is the cut off for competition. Time management is the defining principle of this contest. No sob stories of any kind will be accepted. Please get your film in within 48 Hours because we hate seeing people cry and because real filmmakers expect traffic jams (and trains to cross on Dougall), and they take in consideration the time it takes to compress video for the web, as well as Vimeo uploading and processing time. Your film will not be taken into consideration for a competition, but it will be screened at the 48- Hour FlickFest Screening and Awards Night at the Capitol Theatre (provided it is sent in to our email address one week prior to the screening). What are FlickFest Elements? FlickFest elements are the specifics that you must incorporate into your film. These elements include a line of dialogue, a prop, a theme, and a character. You can choose your own genre, just make sure you put that on the title card. You will be judged on your ability to creatively incorporate these elements into your story in a seamless fashion. Each team will work with the same elements. The prop, line of dialogue, theme, and character will be given to you upon registration. How many team members can I have?

As many as you want! Use all the bells and whistles you like to make the best film possible. As long as it is finished in 48 hours. Can we use stock footage in our film? No, stock footage is not permitted. All of your film elements (excluding music) must be made within the 48-hour time period. My friend is in a band, can I use his / her music in my film? Yes, you can, but you must get them to sign a release form granting you permission to use their music. KICKOFF AND SHOOT Who needs to come to the Windsor kickoff? We encourage all team members to come to the 48-hour kickoff, but at least one representative, the producer, must be present. The producer must be present to complete the registration and receive the FlickFest elements. What do we need to bring to the Windsor kickoff? You will register your team through our website prior to kick-off, so all you need to bring is your non-refundable $50 entry fee. DROP-OFF AND JUDGING What do we hand in at the drop-off? You must submit your finished film on DVD or USB device. If you are submitting your film through Vimeo, you can email us the link to: TBD Your operational Vimeo link (the film has to be done uploading before the deadline, please keep this in mind) has to be emailed to us by 7:00pm EST. Your film s Certification must be emailed by the drop-off deadline. Are there any rating restrictions? Yes. Limited explicit language and mature themes will be permitted, but keep in mind that one of the end goals for these films is that they will shown in front of a large and mixed audience, so keep it within reason. Nothing more risqué than a PG-13 rating will be screened. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

What are the technical guidelines for our film? Your film must be submitted on DVD, USB device, orvia secure Vimeo link. USB devices will be returned at the screening, not before or after. Ensure your media is not corrupted! What are the time considerations for our film? Your film must be within 1-5 minutes including credits. What format can we shoot on? You may shoot on any format - DV, HD, HDV, Film, Beta etc.; however, your finished film must be submitted on DVD, USB device, or on Vimeo. No exceptions. Films not submitted on DVD, USB device, or Vimeo will not be screened or considered for competition. Can we use multiple cameras? Yes, you can. Any credit specifications? Yes, see Rules and Regulations! DOCUMENTS Additional Releases Use these releases if you have a minor on your team, or if you need a release for your music, background, location and/or product. Keep them on file with your producer. You do not have to hand this in! Terms & Agreements General Release Minors Release Music Cue Sheet FAQ What is the 48-Hour FlickFest?

It's your chance to stop talking and start filming! The premise? Filmmaking teams have just one weekend to make a short film. All creativity, such as writing, shooting, editing, must occur within a 48-hour window beginning Friday evening at 7:00 pm and ending by Sunday at 7:00 pm. How much does it cost? The registration fee for the entire team is $50 CDN. What are the films about? Each team will be given a prop, and a line of dialogue, a genre, character, and a theme that must be a part of their film. Everything else is up to you. Who sees the films? Films submitted on time will be eligible to be shown at the 48-Hour FlickFest Screening. This is your chance to get a film screened in front of an adoring audience as part of the Windsor International Film Festival. The number of films selected for the 48-Hour FlickFest screening will depend on the number of films and the lengths completed. The screening may include all films completed on time, or a selection picked by our judges. Who are the filmmakers? The 48-Hour FlickFest is open to all filmmakers, pro and novice alike. Rules state that all team members (crew and cast) must be volunteers. How long are the films? The films must be short, a minimum of 1 minute and a maximum of 5 minutes including credits. How is the event advertised? The event will be promoted through local media, local radio stations, the website, through the Internet and social networking sites (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram), and good ol fashioned word of mouth. Is this a contest? Yes. One film will be chosen as the Mark Boscariol Best of FlickFest 2018 Award. Also, the list of awards will be announced closer to the FlickFest s date. Who judges the films? A panel of judges will consist of filmmakers, actors, film critics, and (or) producers. Judging Criteria: Artistic Merit (e.g., Story, Creativity, Entertainment Value) (60%) Technical Merit (40%)
