Cold War Scrapbook Task: Your assignment is to create a scrapbook-type of diary during the Cold War from a teenager s point of view. We will be using an online scrapbook/blog service called Glogster to create our scrapbooks. Glogster is a web tool that takes the poster to a digital format. It has social and sharing aspects that make it a collaborative site. There are graphics, text boxes, links, videos and sound links that you may add to a wall graphic to create unique, interactive posters in multimedia format. The posters have moving graphics and become interactive to the users. Here are a few Glogster examples on the Cold War: I MADE THIS SAMPLE SPECIFICALLY FOR OUR PROJECT http://msbambino.edu.glogster.com/edit/cold-war-sample/ http://mrreglog.edu.glogster.com/the-cold-war/?=glogpedia-source http://meljo03.edu.glogster.com/the-cold-war/

Requirements: Your Glogster page for the Cold War must include the following elements: 1. Two diary entries written from the point of view of a teenager living during the Cold War. a. Diary entries must have dates. These dates should be somewhere between 1945 and 1991. The diary entries should also name actual events, programs and people of the Cold War. It is not enough to simply mention these events, you MUST explain them. If your diary entries lack details, your grade will be affected in a negative manner. b. Here are some Cold War events-- i. Truman Doctrine ii. Marshall Plan iii. Berlin Airlift iv. Formation of NATO v. The Rosenbergs are executed vi. McCarthyism vii. Korean War viii. Soviet satellite Sputnik is launched into space ix. Bay of Pigs Invasion x. Berlin Wall is built xi. Cuban Missile Crisis xii. Vietnam War xiii. Gulf of Tonkin Resolution xiv. War Powers Act xv. US lands on the moon xvi. Berlin Wall comes down xvii. 26 th Amendment is passed xviii. Soviet Union breaks apart = no more communism there 2. At least two photos showing Cold War events. Make sure your photos have a caption explaining the photo. 3. At least two photos showing how the Cold War affected Americans. Make sure your photos have a caption explaining the photo. 4. One political cartoon showing an event during the Cold War. In addition to including the cartoon, you must write a caption that explains the main idea of the cartoon. 5. One piece of propaganda (poster) from the American point of view (about the Soviet Union)

Due Date: Your Glogster is due Friday 5/16. You will have time during class to work on your project from 5/8 through 5/13 (4 days). If you use your time wisely, you should be able to finish it during school. If you do not, you will have to finish it on your own time. Use your time appropriately! Since Glogster is an online site, you can also work on it at home or during extra help. You just need to login to your Google Cloud account. *PLEASE NOTE: The website is www.glogster.edu NOT www.glogster.com This project will count for 20% of your 4 th quarter grade. Grading: Please see the attached rubric.
