The program made its national debut on the PBS Create TV network on July 9 and 23, and replayed locally on WPBT2 on July 12. The Create TV premiere was featured in the Sun-Sentinel on July 9 in an article entitled Hollywood getting its 30 minutes of fame. CRA staff is working with American Public Television to facilitate a national Win a Trip to Florida s Hollywood promotion to run on CreateTV in the winter. The winners will be flown to Hollywood, stay at a beach hotel and experience the best of Hollywood s attractions, restaurants and nightlife, and culture. Sax in the City summer concert series Wednesdays 6-8 p.m. June-July 2013, Downtown Hollywood Live Music District The CRA concluded the Sax in the City summer concert series on July 31, after 9 weeks of featuring local musicians jamming in unexpected public places throughout the

historic live music district every Wednesday. The pilot project was successful and helped identify the best public spots and private rain locations. The event was featured in El Sentinel, JazzBlues Florida and Travel Host online and received very positive response from local residents and downtown business owners alike. Robust social media activity preceded and followed each weekly edition of the series as the various bands, their fans and the participating venues shared information and images on Facebook and Twitter. The CRA plans to bring the event back for the 2013-14 high season to maximize the mid-week impact on the Downtown businesses. Hollywood ArtsPark Experience: Rio On July 27, 2013, the Hollywood ArtsPark Experience: Rio event attracted a major crowd of more than 6,000 attendees to Downtown Hollywood. The event was the one of the largest Experience concerts yet, with significant media exposure in the Miami Herald, Sun-Sentinel, El Sentinel, New Times, South Florida Times, Hollywood Gazette, Acontece Magazine, Gazeta Magazine, WLRN 91.3FM, WDNA 88.9FM, Travel Host, Broward Family Life and extremely high visibility on social media. The event also attracted the attention of high-profile Portuguese-language TV show Planeta Brasil, which is broadcast to 44 countries by Globo TV International. The 30-minute entertainment news program sent a production team to film a segment at the show, to be broadcast at a future date. Fam Tours and Conferences CRA staff participated in the Global Travel Marketplace (GTM) conference of topperforming travel agents, produced by Travel Weekly and co-sponsored by the GFLCVB, held at the Westin Diplomat, July 24-26. City Pass Program Seven bus loads including 261 passengers from multiple cruise ships passed through our cruise concierge lounge at Garfield Street community center during the month of July. Visitor Service Specialists greeted these guests, provided them with information on Hollywood beach and Downtown Hollywood and helped them experience all that Hollywood has to offer. Welcome and Information Center/Visitor Services In July, Visitor Service Specialists completed their first month at the new Garfield Street information center, an air conditioned, computer enabled information center on the ground floor of the Garfield parking garage and Community Center. Staff accommodated the needs of 2,411 guests in July. The location has been set up with a

desk and computer terminal for our visitor service specialist and beach police operations personnel. ArtWalk/Downtown Hollywood Mural Project The July edition of ArtWalk featuring muralist Rob Robi received high-profile coverage in the Sun-Sentinel, New Times BPB and Hollywood Gazette. Margaritaville In anticipation of the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort project, CRA staff has continued to work with City staff, the Developer and his contractors to coordinate all aspects of the project since the approval by the City Commission and CRA Board through construction and beyond. The Maurice J. Connell parking garage has been demolished and site preparation work has begun. Staff receives weekly emails from the Contractor keeping us up to date on the activities during construction. Coordination meetings will continue to be held as necessary on-site with the contractor. Construction, coordination and communication are very important components of this major project. Grants Enhanced Revenue Having applied for the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs General Program Support grant for the Experience Hollywood Program in June, the CRA partnered with City staff in completing and submitting an accessibility checklist as an additional part of the grant application process. Maintenance/Downtown In July, Block by Block maintenance staff removed 141 graffiti tags, collected 4,500 lbs. of litter, provided hospitality assistance 98 times, provided assistance to a business or property owner 15 times, contacted the City of Hollywood Police one time and collected & disposed of 332 palm fronds. Seventeen hours were spent on special projects including weed abatement between the brick pavers and the cleaning of trash receptacles. Maintenance/Beach In July, 1,427 operational hours were clocked by beach maintenance staff and of those hours, 962 were dedicated to trash removal from the beach, 118 hours were spent maintaining the restrooms and 82 hours were spent cleaning the shower areas. In addition, approximately 29 graffiti tags and stickers were removed. Staff also utilized temp workers during the month which bolstered our crew for an additional 180 hours.

Code Enforcement CRA staff meets with enhanced service Code Enforcement officers on a weekly basis. During the month of July, 217 on-view violations were issued, 78 re-inspections were conducted and 14 complaints were addressed in the Downtown District. In the Beach District 71 violations were issued, 87 re-inspections were conducted and six complaint was addressed. Many of the violations were for property standards as well as other issues. Certificates of Use As part of the Department of Planning and Development Services approval process for Certificates of Use, CRA staff reviewed and approved the following sixteen (16) Certificates of Use in the month of July: 1. Manjares, LLC, 2051A Hollywood Boulevard (restaurant) 2. Nationwide Mover s Group, 430 S. Dixie Highway (office) 3. Spotlight Realty, 430 S. Dixie Highway (office) 4. Monster Glock, Inc., 430 S. Hollywood Trolley Trolley ridership numbers were off approximately 1,167 riders for the month of June 2013. In 2012, 5,737 riders rode a trolley and in June 2013, there were 4,570 riders. Trolley ridership numbers were off approximately 1,929 riders for the month of July. In 2012, 7,238 riders rode a trolley and in July 2013, there were 5,309 riders. We believe the drop off was due to several factors including route changes, anticipated construction of the Margaritaville project and the trolley hub relocation. Although ridership is down, we expect a busy tourism season. As mentioned, the trolley hub has relocated to Taylor Street, due to Johnson Street construction and staff has moved some benches to the site so that the guests have a place to sit while waiting for the Trolley. Staff distributed new trolley brochures to condos and hotels. In August the CRA expects the new trolley phone application (app) to go live. This free trolley app can be found in the app store under TSO Hollywood or by searching the Hollywood Trolley. Upcoming Meetings and Events Technical Advisory Committee August 19, 2013.
