DANCE RECITAL Date The Dance Recital performance will be held on Saturday, June 1 at 11:00 a.m. Time The Dance Recital performance will start promptly at 11:00 a.m. and is expected to run about 45 minutes to one hour. We ask that you stay for the entirety of the performance as not to distract or disrupt the rest of the crowd. Location The Dance Recital will be held at Glenbard South High School, 23W200 Butterfield Rd., in the Main Auditorium. Parents, dancers and their families should enter through Door 9. Personal Pictures and Video Personal pictures and video may be taken at both the dress rehearsal and recital. However, we ask that there be NO flash photography and that you be courteous of the people around you. The dress rehearsal is open to parents or caretakers to attend, however if you or your other children are disruptive to the rehearsal process you will be asked to leave the theater and wait in the hall. This rehearsal is very important to the success of the performance. Professional Pictures and Video Zaker Video Productions will be professionally recording the show. DVD s of the performance will be available for purchase and will include direct mailing to your home. An order form will is available on the last page of this packet and will be made available at the dress rehearsal. Studio 95 Photography will be taking pictures on Friday, May 31 during the Dress Rehearsal. Both group and individual pictures will be taken. We ask that even if you do not plan on ordering individual pictures that you still participate in the group shot. Photography packages and order information will be made available closer to the recital date.
Costumes All dancers will be provided with a dance costume and a pair of tights for the dance recital. The costume fee was included in your registration fee this year. Parents will be given a form from the instructor stating the suggested size to order a few weeks after class as begun. Once parents have signed off that they accept that size, costumes will be ordered. All costumes will be handed out by mid May. A detailed list of how to wear your costume and any accessories will be included with the costume bag. Costumes should NOT be worn prior to the Dress Rehearsal. drop off and Sign in Policy for the Dance Recital All children must be dropped off and signed in by a parent or caretaker between 10:15-10:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 1. Upon arrival, one parent will drop off their dancer in the small theatre next to the auditorium (please follow the signs in the hallway). After signing their child in, a staff member will hand that parent a wristband; at pick-up the child will only be released to the person wearing the wristband. Each class will be assigned at least one Glen Ellyn Park District Staff member and/or parent volunteer that will remain with their group throughout the duration of the recital. Please arrive with your child in full costume, with hair and make-up done and their dance shoes on. dismissal Process for the Dance Recital After the recital, the audience will be dismissed and only the parent/ caregiver with the wristband will be allowed to sign the child out. Glen Ellyn Park District Staff and parent volunteers will dismiss all of the dancers class by class. Should you need to pick up your child before the end of the recital, please contact Jessica Marquez directly at 630-942-7264. tickets Each dancer will receive a determined number of complimentary tickets as part of their recital registration. A limited number of extra tickets will be available for purchase starting on Monday, April 22 at 12:00pm. Tickets can be purchased online using code 113540. Tickets are available for purchase for $2.00 each. There is no limit to the number of extra tickets that can be purchased per family. Dancers in the recital do NOT need a ticket for themselves. If you do NOT need all of your complimentary tickets please let me know. In the event that all extra tickets are sold, and you are still in need of tickets, please go on the wait list should more tickets become available. Tickets will be passed out in class the week before the recital.
parent Volunteers If you are interested in volunteering back stage please fill out the parent volunteer form below. All parent volunteers will have access to the reserved parent viewing area to watch their dancer on stage during their performance, or they are welcome to watch from the wings. Parent volunteers will be helping their child s class backstage, keeping the kids occupied with provided activities and walking the group to and from the performance area. They will also be responsible for the dismissal process of their child s class. Instructions will be given to all staff and parent volunteers the morning of the recital. If you are interested in becoming a parent volunteer for your child s class, please fill out the Parent Volunteer Form on the next page and return it to your instructor.

Order forms can be turned into the Spring Ave. or Main Street Recreation Centers. Orders will be shipped directly to your home approximately 5 weeks after the performance.
