The Grande Prairie Boys Choir presents their 2017-18 Concert Season The Impact Continues! 9631 88 Ave, Grande Prairie AB T8V 3E2 780.402.0153 www.gpboyschoir.org
The! Impact continues The 3 themes of Service, Mentorship, and Comraderie have proven to be effective. So effective the Choir is going to continue these programs for the 2017-18 season. From collecting food for the Food Bank to performing at Remembrance Day Services, the boys will continue to assist with community initiatives. The boys are learning that it is important for them to give back to their community. Service builds character and strong community. Each year there are a group of boys who move up to the Men of Note division. And, with each new crop of Men of Note members, there are a group of boys who take on leadership roles such as Mentoring. As they have learned from their Mentors, they now began teaching as Mentors. This program is seeing results as more boys are becoming more confident in their performances and more open to trying new things. It is always wonderful to see the relationships that develop amongst the boys. Over the years, these relationships grow outside of the Choir creating life long friendships. This Comraderie makes the Choir time and work more enjoyable and memorable. As it also build strong, positive character it makes the boys better people and our communities better places to live. The Impact Continues!
National Medals - Men of Note 2012 - Gold 2014 - Silver 2017 - Silver National Competition for Canadian Choirs The Men of Note competed in the Low Voice Youth Choir Category of the National Competition for Canadian Choirs and placed second winning the Silver medal. This is what was said about the Choir and their performance. Karen Hudson President, Choir Alberta On behalf of the Board of Choir Alberta, please accept my sincere congratulations on the outstanding performance of the Grande Prairie Boys Choir Men of Note in the National Competition for Canadian Choirs. What a great accomplishment to receive second place in the Low Voice Youth Choir category. Choral singing is an integral part of our Canadian cultural experience and this certainly shows in the strength of all those choirs that were finalists in this competition. Alberta is truly fortunate to have such a strong and vibrant choral community and we are so grateful to have the Grande Prairie Boys Choir organization as part of our choral landscape. Recent Success & Future Plans Choral music, especially with children, has the power to build community and transform lives for both audience and ensemble members. Again, congratulations on this outstanding achievement for both you and the members of the Chamber Choir. The work of the Grande Prairie Boys Choir organization is transformative and continues to inspire those in the choral community in Alberta to strive for excellence in all we do. Brendan Lord Executive Director, Choir Alberta Please find a letter of congratulations to you and Grande Prairie Boys Choir Men of Note recognizing your success in the 2017 National Competition for Canadian Amateur Choirs. I believe GPBC is the most rural choir to win an award in the entire competition! Especially in the context of the largest NCCAC in recent history, this is an award to be celebrated and of which you must be very proud. Thanks so much for your continued investment into the choral community in Grande Prairie, and congratulations on this notable success! 2018 Planning continues for a summer tour in Ireland!
