Join us at 6:30 for our Winter Concert featuring Jazz Band, Chamber Orchestra, Concert Ensemble, and Wind Ensemble. Student call time: 6:00 Special Feature: Professional harpist (and good friend of mine) Ann Fienup visited students at Field on a Black Day to share some harp music! Students were able to enjoy listening to the performance and ask questions about the instrument. Additionally Ms. Fienup studied music education and was even able to help out in sectionals with some of our string students! Thank You! Looking ahead: Students will be visited by professional trumpet player Elaine Burt in early December if they are in a Teal Day ensemble! Her resume showcases her hard work from performances on Broadway, guest classes at Juilliard, and work here in the Twin Cities! 5th / 6th Grade Concert: Thursday January 17th, 2019. See you there! Best Wishes! Zane Kaiser Band & Orchestra Director

Music Webpage Choir, Guitar, Music Explorations Greetings Field Families! With no concerts or events on the schedule for December, it's going to be a pretty quiet month for CHOIR, GUITAR, and MUSIC EXPLORATIONS students. Please review the following information about our upcoming activities in January! WINTER CONCERT - Monday, Jan. 14th @ 6:30pm, Field Commons This is a required performance event for all students enrolled in "INTERMEDIATE GUITAR" and "MUSIC EXPLORATIONS". The Intermediate Guitar class will perform 3-4 selections starting right at 6:30pm, followed by the 5 separate Music Explorations ensembles each performing at least one song each. This event is worth 2 letter grades, and the end of the semester is just a week later so it should be a high priority for participating students families. Any student who is unable to attend this event needs to complete the extra credit "CONCERT REPORT" assignment before the end of the 1st semester. That assignment document, as well as a document detailing a list of ideal concert events to attend can be downloaded off my teacher website (bottom of the main page). FALL CHOIR CONCERT - Recap / Looking ahead to 2nd Semester It was so much fun to share with you the choir music that your children and I have been working on together so far this year! Any students who were not able to attend need to complete the extra credit "CONCERT REPORT" assignment before the end of the Semester to make up those lost points. That assignment document, as well as a document detailing a list of ideal concert events to attend can be downloaded off my teacher website (bottom of the main page). This past week each choir voted on a new song of their choosing to begin learning for the spring concert. The process included lots of discussion about the meaning of lyrics, what's appropriate for school (and their age), as well as what musical and structural qualities make for a great choir arrangement. The next major event coming up for Choir students is the PANCAKE BREAKFAST fundraiser on SATURDAY, MARCH 2nd. I will be sending an email over winter break to parents who indicated they were willing to volunteer so we can get the ball rolling on planning. VOCALESSENCE CANTARE - UPDATE ( MADRIGALS / CHORALE ) Students in MADRIGALS and CHORALE are so fortunate to be participating the VOCALESSENCE CANTARE PROGRAM! This program celebrates Mexican influence on American music/culture, bringing a composer from Mexico ( Pablo Mendoza Halliday ) into our classroom during 3 separate residencies throughout the year to compose and rehearse a brand new choir piece, culminating in a final performance at the end of the year at the Ordway Center For Performing Arts ( Tuesday, May 21st ).

As part of students participation in this program, VOCALESSENCE has requested a media release for participating students. It's my understanding that parents have already indicated this information on a separate form through MPS/FIELD, but I have been advised by Field Admin to request your signature again on a new form created for this specific program. I passed these out to students on Thursday/Friday, so please ask your child about these forms and return them signed ASAP. Disregard that the due date listed on the paper has passed, it will be fine. Thanks! BURKHART'S TEACHER WEBSITE For the most up to date information in regards to the classes that I teach, including concert dates, new registration forms, etc. Please visit my teacher website: http://fieldchoirguitar.weebly.com..not the FIELD WEBSITE. That's all for now! If You have any further questions/concerns, please email me directly. If your inquiry is time-sensitive, please send a reminder email if you have not heard back from me after 48 hours. Sincerely, Chase D. This books helps to reinforce basic language structures in Spanish. In Spanish 2 students are

reading Los pirates del caribe. This book helps to reinforce the present progressive tense in Spanish, i.e. "I am trying...", along with using future tense.
