Candidature Mihela Jagodic I am motivated to participate in the next board to share my experiences of working in the choral field for almost two decades with the aim of further successful development of the ECAEC. My focus though would certainly be to prepare an unforgettable Europa Cantat festival 2021 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, my home city. More details to follow in the 3 questions document. Mihela 1/5
I am interested because I am professionallyvery involved in choral activities for almost two decadesand as well as the organiser of the next Europa Cantat festival 2021 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, my home city. Working in choral filed for many years as Adviser for Choral Activities at the Republic of Slovenia Public Fund for Cultural Activities (JSKD) gave me many experiences in monitoring choral activities, developing programs and organising choral events of all levels: local, regional, national and international (International Choral Competition Gallus Maribor, member of the European GP for Choral singing). I am regular visitor of International events; competitions, EC Festivals, singing weeks and World Symposiums. I also organised three Europa Cantat events: two singing weeks in Ljubljana (2004 and 2007) and the 5th International Competition for Young Choral Conductors (2009). From 20062009 I was a member of the ECAEC board. This has been an extremely important experience, giving me the insight of the Federation. Working in a board I can share my knowledge of the local/regional situation and solutions and I am also aware of international choral standards and trends. As the next organiser of the Europa Cantat Festival 2021 I will focus strongly on the event to be further developed with interesting local, regional and mostly creative ideas. Europa Cantat has well developed choral programs. I would prefer not to change general direction. I would just like to contribute ideas to broaden and enrich its existing activities. Additionally I see ECAEC intensify the efforts to raise awareness on the public about the facts, gathered by VOICE research: that choral singing is not a marginal activity but a strong movement. The numbers are gathered, the benefits of choral singing as well researched. There should be an European project that would move the numbers and facts into a cool and attractive campaign. This wouldalso help members advocacy for choral activities easier. 2/5
