Page /7 Illustrations Product description Pre-terminated installation cables (VIK) are fiber optic cables with connectors on one or both ends that are made in manual singleitem production at METZ CONNECT in Blumberg by respecting highest quality demands. Combined with breakout cables (BO) they are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. VIKs are often used together with OpDAT patch panels (types PF, PA, fix, slide). They allow a rapid and easy to install point-to-point connection. Thus, installation time and cost are considerably reduced compared to an installation requiring splicing and pigtails or a cabling with different patch cords. Characteristics: Number of fibers: 2, 4, 6, 8, 2, 6 and 24 Pre-terminated with connector types LC, SC, ST and E2000 Available as cable coil or on wooden drum (depends on length and cable type) With or without pull-in aid 00% testing of insertion loss and return loss, delivered with measuring protocol Areas of use: Building backbone (floor cabling) Fiber-to-the-Desk Cabling in data centers

They are made of individual cables (dia. 2.0 mm) in one cable jacket. The individual cables are symmetrically grouped around a central element so that the cable always has a round cross section. The cables are UV resistant, flame retardant, halogene-free and metal-free, water-resistant and moisture resistant. Primarily they are designed to be laid in conduits and ducts in indoor areas; but for shorter distances they may also be used outdoors. All used optical fibers are bend insensitive. PG fixation kit The PG fixation kit is available as an option and is used to fix the VIK securely for example in a patch panel. When ordering the VIK with pull-in aid the PG cable gland is included in delivery.
Page 3/7 Structure Fanout Generally the fanout has always the same length. The length is 0,8 m from cable divider to end. The individual pre-terminated fanout cables are graded in length when pull-in aids are used, then the shortest length is about 50 cm. Fanout protections Bubble wrap If no other protection was defined the bubble wrap is always supplied as fanout protection. All fanout cables have the same length (about 0.8 m). Bubble wrap is a simple mechanical protection during transport and installation. The bubble wrap should not be used to pull the cable into cable ducts or conduits! Pull-in aid The pull-in aid is used to pull the cable into cable ducts or conduits. Mechanically it is the most resistant fanout protection: crush-resistant, available with protection class IP50 and easy to disassemble.
