Designated use GB The twilight switch is suitable for controlling exterior lighting of buildings depending on the brightness of the outdoor light. The integrated timer switch can be used to turn off the lights during the night-time hours. Designated use also includes adherence to the instructions for installation and operation. Any other use is considered contrary to the designated use. The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage resulting from such use. 2. Safety note Installation of electrical devices should only be carried out by a professional electrician. National regulations and safety requirements must be adhered to! Tampering with or making modifications to the device will invalidate the guarantee.
3. Opening/closing the device Opening the housing: Fig 1. 4. Selecting an installation location Before selecting an installation location: 1. Remove the cover on the front of the device (see Fig. 1). 2. Turn the two screws 90 in the anticlockwise direction (see Fig. 2). 3. Swing the housing cover upward until it locks. Closing the housing: 1. Swing the housing cover downward (see Fig. 3). The screws are spring-loaded. Fig 2. Fig 3. 2. Press the screw downward using a screwdriver. 3. Turn the screw 90 in the clockwise direction (see Fig. 2). Fig 4. 4. Press the cover onto the front of the device (see Fig. 4). 14 Choose an installation location where the twilight switch will be exposed to little or no dirt. Dirt on the housing interferes with the measurements made by the integral brightness sensor. Light-entry angle of the brightness sensor: approx. 180 Recommended installation location for: - lighting control on private and industrial buildings: north side - street lighting: east side Please note: The light from the lamp switched on by the twilight switch must not interfere with the sensor. Effect of non-compliance: Undesirable feedback may occur
5. Installation position 7. Cable connection The device allows two basic types of connection: Cable connection from below (Fig. 1) or Cable connection from behind (see Fig. 2). Fig. 1 Fig. 1 GB 6. Mast installation Fasten the twilight switch to the mast with a standard tube clamp. 1. In either case, use only the cable sleeves provided! 2. In the installation type shown in Fig. 2, the cable sleeves must be used on the bottom of the housing! Effects of non-compliance: IP protection is no longer ensured - water can penetrate into the device and destroy it! 15
8. Electrical connection 10. Activating/replacing the battery Activating the battery: 1. Pull the insulating strip out of the battery compartment (see Fig. 1) 2. Using a pointed object, press the Reset button for about 1 second The year 2002 must appear in the display. Fig. 1 9. Checking the connection / test function Precondition for the test function: The device must be connected. Function: If the Test button is pressed briefly (< 2 seconds), the connected lamp should light up for about two minutes, regardless of the brightness level set. Test or cancel test: 1. Press the Test button. If the lamp does not light up: 2. Check the lamp and/or the connection. 16 Replacing the battery: 1. Remove the battery holder from Fig. 2 the battery compartment. 2. Dispose of the used battery in an environmentally-friendly manner. 3. Note the correct polarity. 4. Insert the new battery in the battery holder. Batterytyp CR 2450 5. Press the battery holder down until it engages audibly. 6. Using a pointed object, press the Reset button for about 1 second The year 2002 should appear in the display.

19. Teach in function Precondition: The teach in function is only active when mains voltage is present, since otherwise no light measurement is possible. Function: With the teach in function it is possible to save the brightness value measured at a given moment and to use it as the basis for the ON/ OFF thresholds. This can be done simply by pressing a button; it is not necessary to open the device. After the brightness value has been read in the measured lux value is shown in the device's display. The LED over the sensor flashes briefly. If the measured brightness value is greater than the measurement range (more than 200 lux), then - - - - is displayed and 200 lux is used as the value for the ON/ OFF thresholds. Reading in the brightness value for the ON/OFF thresholds: Precondition: This must be done after 12:00 noon, generally in the evening when the desired ON/OFF threshold has been reached. 1. Press and hold the Test button for at least 3 sec. The measured brightness value is automatically saved for the ON and OFF thresholds. Reading in the brightness value for the OFF threshold only: Precondition: This must be done before 12:00 noon, generally in the morning when the twilight switch should turn the connected lamp off. 1. Press and hold the Test button for at least 3 sec. The measured brightness value is automatically saved for the OFF threshold. GB 21
