Having studied with both Alicja Fiderkiewicz and Joan Havill, Gareth won the Leszeck Dessnet prize for a performance of Chopin and graduated with the Premier Prix at the Guildhall in 2000. He is currently Head of Piano at Eton College and teaches at the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION *All music is Own Choice - one or two pieces within the stated time limit. No piece may be played in more than one class. *Performers will clearly announce their Own Choice *Performers must provide their own accompanist where it is applicable and also provide their own music stands and any other accessory necessary to their performance. *A copy of Own Choice music must be provided on the day for the Adjudicator. Providing that an original copy is being used, a photocopy is permitted, but will be retained by the Festival. *Duet/Trio/Quartet and Ensembles may include any combination of Instruments (including piano). Performers in these classes must all be within the age group stated. The Conductor and/or accompanist may be of any age and may be a professional musician. *Please advise the festival office the number of players in classes IE7, IE8 and IE9 on your entry form. Performers must not have passed the grade from which their music is chosen. All classes any age. IS4 Grades 1 and 2 IS5 Grades 3-5 9.00 IS6 Grades 6-8 RAGTIME, SWING, JAZZ, LIGHT MUSIC Contrasting pieces, with or without piano accompaniment. IS7 IS8 13 Years and over

RECITAL & SONATA Any strings; any age. IS9 IS10 BAROQUE 1 or 2 movements from a sonata or suite written between 1600-1750, accompanied or unaccompanied. SONATA 1 movement from a sonata written after 1750. IS11 RECITAL - Minimum grade 5 2 or more contrasting pieces from any musical period. CONCERTO CLASSES PIANO, STRINGS, WIND OR BRASS INSTRUMENTS WITH PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT. THE ACCOMPANIST MUST BE PROVIDED BY THE ENTRANT. WHEN THE BALANCE OF ENTRIES IS KNOWN YOU WILL BE ALLOCATED A SHORT WARM-UP TIME. IS49 IS50 JUNIOR CONCERTO CLASS 16 years and under. Any movement(s) from a concerto. Time limit: 15 mins OPEN CONCERTO CLASS 17 years and over. Own choice of any movement(s) from a concerto, one of which must be the first or the last. Time limit: 20 mins Professionals who do not derive the major part of their income from performance may compete. There will be a possible opportunity for an outstanding performer to rehearse with the Worthing Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Dominic Grier, with the possibility for an exceptional player to be offered a concert performance with the orchestra.
