Sony XCD V60CR cameras to inspect automotive cables
Crafelec application Established in France for over 14 years, CRAFELEC is specialized in automation, industrial IT, electrical and industrial maintenance. CRAFELEC Cdeveloped e and implemented pe e teda machine vision so system to inspect automotive spark plug cables during the manufacturing process. The end user is an automotive wiring harnesses manufacturer. The project feasibility (hardware recommendation, test...) was managed in collaboration with ALLIANCE VISION, a historical CRAFELEC partner and vision components supplier. VISION 2011 2/13
2 Applications Application 1 100% control Checking presence of characters (tracking number ) visual marking Application 2 100% control Dt Detectingti df defects during the cutting VISION 2011 3/13
Integration limitations & issues Integration on existing machine limited volume high vibration level Random position of the markers due to the cable rotation during the manufacturing process 2800 pieces per hour Cable running at 20m/min. No accurate definition of the defects VISION 2011 4/13
Hardware configuration (1/2) Application 1 (characters & marking detection): 3 Sony XCD V60 CR cameras each located at 120 to catch ththe information regardless of the cable rotation (360 coverage) 1 National Instruments embedded vision system (EVS 1464RT) 3 Pentax high resolution optics (C1614 M) 3 Vision&Control linear white led lighting (LAL14) Application 2 (cutting control) based on the same solution: 2 Sony XCD V60 CR cameras 1 National Instruments embedded vision system (EVS 1464RT) 2 Vision&Control telecentric optics and lightings (T 100 / TZB10 R) VISION 2011 5/13
Hardware configuration (2/2) VISION 2011 6/13
Why a Sony XCD V60CR? IEEE1394b digital Easy maintenance Daisy chain 3 XCD V60 CR were daisy chained to the NI EVS Shorter cables No need for a hub Color version (CR) Various ink color used for marking Good picture quality at short exposure time 20 m/min. Excellent price/quality ratio VISION 2011 7/13
Using NI VBAI to configure the application Perfect compatibility with Sony cameras. Easy configuration : Multiple triggered cameras Processing Communication protocols and I/Os HMI National Instruments Vision Builder for Automated Inspection VISION 2011 8/13
Monitoring interface Marking control display Character control display Cutting quality control display VISION 2011 9/13
Results and future developments Implementation tests more than conclusive Solution validated and implemented in a very short time reduced production downtime Only a single customer default claim after 3 months of production (but due to a human error) Perspective The solution should be: implemented on other machines control marking extended to other cable references VISION 2011 10/13
