our acile-ingered lautists Kevin Kaisershot our acile-ingered lautists was commissioned y and is dedicated to Greg Eriksen, who at the time (00) was the Band Director at Olson Middle School in Woodstock, Illinois. He approached me with the idea or this proect ased on his having an outstanding group o young lautists at his school that he would like to eature in some special way. I was lattered at the prospect o producing a piece or these young women (Rachel, Danielle, Sarah and Elizaeth) and was pleased to hear that they enoyed it as well. In any ensemle the idea o alance is always a concern. While every memer o this ensemle gets a share o the melodic line at some point, it is important or the other parts to allow that line to speak while eing supportive oth harmonically and rhythmically. Be careul not to rush the indicated tempo or the intended character o the piece is lost. Kevin Kaisershot was orn in Dickinson, North Dakota and raised in Lincoln, Neraska and Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. His ormal training was received at the University o Neraska-Lincoln (BME) and Illinois State University (MM). He has done additional post-graduate work at oth Northern Illinois University and Vandercook College o Music. He has studied trumpet with Dennis Schneider and Richard Lehman. He has also studied conducting with ack R. Snider, Roert B. Allan, Alan McMurray, Mallory Thompson and Richard loyd. He lives in Aurora, Illinois where he is a reelance composer/arranger and trumpet soloist as well as a music teacher in one o the local area school districts. Kevin Kaisershot has taught at all levels o instrumental music, oth at the pulic school level ( years) and the college level (ive years). He is a memer o several proessional organizations, including the International Trumpet Guild, Illinois Music Educators Association, MENC and ASCAP. Among some o his most recent honors, Mr. Kaisershot has een honored with inclusion in several yearly editions o Who's Who Among America's Teachers. He also received in997 the Award o Recognition rom the Illinois State Board o Education as part o their "Those Who Excel" Program. As a conductor, clinician, and composer, Mr. Kaisershot has ecome well traveled throughout the Mid-West, and has achieved somewhat o a ollowing worldwide, where his music has received critical acclaim. His and and orchestra compositions are presently on several state contest lists. He has won several awards or his and compositions including the distinction that his march entitled Spectre o ortune was adopted y the State o Massachusetts Lion's Clu Organizations as their oicial march. He is also a ten-time recipient o the annual ASCAP standard awards or his contriutions to the advancement o American/Educational music.
