Show Choir Auditions DO YOUR BEST. RELAX, SMILE, AND PERSEVERE WITH GRACE! 1. Registration: Turn in all paperwork: Application with headshot Teacher Evaluation Copies of your two most recent grade reports 2. You will be assigned an identification number to wear on your neckline during both auditions. Return it before leaving for the day. 3. You are responsible for your personal belongings. Bring what you need (water, appropriate clothing, music, pencils, etc). 4. Dance Auditions (Tuesday, May 5): Wear appropriate dance attire, dance shoes, hair in ponytail. 5. Vocal Auditions (Wednesday, May, 6): Wear nice, but casual attire. The group song will be the focus, however, if you have not completed the individual portion of the audition, bring in your accompaniment CD, tape, or mp3 player. Elements of the audition will include a vocal range check, short pitch recognition, Major and Minor triads and ascending and descending Major Scale on solfege or numbers, and Individual Solo. 6. Call Backs (Thursday, May 7): Call Back results will be posted on the Website. Go to www.esperanzahs.com, click on Teachers/Staff, then Mr. Michael Fenton. You will see a link for Call Backs on the right. 7. Final Results will be posted on the Website. (see #6).

Show Choir Audition Check List 1. Attend meeting at in the Choir Room (712) on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 6:30pm. 2. Make an appointment for your individual audition (at EHS or your school). 3. Take application materials home and discuss with parents. 4. Complete all forms, including all necessary signatures. 5. Make a photocopy of your last 2 report cards or ABI Transcript. Office grade transcripts are not acceptable. You should have a file of all your grades at home. 6. Prepare a vocal solo segment from musical theater or appropriate pop repertoire which shows your best vocal assets usually the ending of the song, vocal range, dynamics, solid vocal technique, etc. (2 minutes maximum) 7. Prepare a tape of your audition song accompaniment. (2 minutes maximum) 8. Dance Auditions: Tuesday, May 5, 2015, 3:30-6:30pm, EHS Choir Room - Arrive dressed in dance clothes and shoes, hair in a ponytail. Report to the registration table at 3:30pm. Turn in completed forms: application, evaluation, and last 2 grade report card photocopies. Attach your assigned number card to your shirt. Return the number at the end of auditions. All students will perform a series of exercises to show flexibility, technique, innate sense of rhythm, ability to follow directions, etc. Students will be taught a choreographed routine and will perform it individually or in small groups. 9. Vocal Auditions: Wednesday, May 6, 2015, 3:30-6:30pm, EHS Choir Room - Arrive in nice, casual attire. If you have not completed the individual portion, bring your CD, mp3player, or cued accompaniment tape. You will be given a series of random pitches to sing, asked to sing a major and minor triad and a major scale ascending and descending, and to sing your prepared solo. Use body language, some gestures, and facial expression to help interpret your song. 10. Check for Call Back Results and Instructions on www.esperanzahs.com and follow directions.
