Thomas Feed is a computer for the control of a dry feed system that is used to give all of your animals ad-lib feeding. This computer is exceptionally easy to use. Icons on the large screen show the available functions. With the ThomApp, you can control one or more barn computers remotely with your smartphone or tablet. This gives you full control over all processes, anytime, anywhere. Two frequency controllers allow you to mix feed from different silos. The delivered and dispensed quantities of feed can be registered by means of silo weighing or on the basis of the supply capacity and run time of the augers. Up to five circuits may be connected. During feeding, they can operate simultaneously, after each other or via takeover points. CONTROL FUNCTIONS Silos Thomas Feed can control up to four silos. In case of more than one silo, the feed can be mixed with the aid of two frequency controllers. To minimize the quantity of residual feed, you can opt to have a pulsating control of the silo auger. Circuits Thomas Feed can control up to five circuits. There are three possibilities for controlling multiple circuits: Simultaneous The circuits will start simultaneously during feeding. As soon as the limit sensor of a circuit is covered, this circuit is complete and will stop. The remaining circuits will run until their limit sensors are also covered. Feed Registration After each other The circuits will start after each other. As soon as the first circuit is ready, the second circuit will start. This option can be selected when the capacity of the silo auger is not sufficient to fill the circuits simultaneously. The feed consumption can be registered in two different ways: Silo weighing By placing the silos on load cells and then linking them to a CAN-IO-LCA, you can register the delivered and dispensed quantities of feed. To refine the registration of the quantities delivered, one or more feed delivery buttons can be installed. Capacity The quantity of feed dispensed is registered based on the run time of the silo auger and the adjustable capacity per mixture. The content of the silos is not registered. With takeover When circuits become too long, you can work with two shorter circuits with a takeover point. In that case, the feed for the second circuit will be transported by the first circuit from the infeed point to the takeover point.
Phase Feeding When several mixtures must be dispensed with the feeding system, you should use the phase feeding option. This option allows you to dispense up to nine different mixtures. The feed places are equipped with slides or valves to control when and which outlets are opened. Thomas Feed has three options for controlling the slides / valves: Residual Feed Bins To release the system for the dispensing of the next mixture, up to four residual feed bins can be assigned. One mixture can be assigned for each residual feed bin. One valve per room The desired mixture can be set for each room, or determined automatically based on an age curve (maximum 32 rooms, maximum nine mixtures). Dosators Thomas Feed can control the dosators in two ways: One valve per mixture There is an output for each mixture for controlling the valve or group of valves for that mixture (maximum nine mixtures). Linked to the feeding cycles When the feeding phase is completed, the dosators are opened. Based on up to 24 adjustable times The dosators are opened at the set times. To prevent the dosators from being open while the circuit is running, the dosators will always be closed when the circuits are about to run. In addition, the circuits will not switch on until the dosators are closed. The quantity of feed per animal or bin can be controlled manually with the dosators. Water Using a water counter, it is possible to record the water consumption. In addition, the water valve can, if desired, be controlled via a timer with a maximum of 24 set times. Timer Feed slide The outlets are closed with slides that are moved to the desired position by a central winch motor (maximum five mixtures). Thomas Feed is equipped with four timers that can be set to a maximum of 24 switching times. You can choose between: ON/OFF times or on times with duration ON. Inspection It is essential that all the components of the feeding system keep working correctly. With Thomas Feed, it is possible to inspect and monitor the most important aspects of your feed system, such as: Silos: Operation of silo augers / minimum content of silos / feed deliveries Circuits: Circulation guard / cable rupture / circuit fault / status of (final) limit sensors GENERAL Alarm Thomas Feed has two types of messages: a warning or an alarm. In the case of a warning, a message will appear on Thomas Feed display. In the case of an alarm, the alarm contact will also be broken. All messages are saved in the alarm log with start and end times.
Diagnostics In diagnostics, you can call up a number of additional functions. These include the status of the feed timer, the assigned silos and circuit sensors and your computer s serial number. Communication Thomas uses various communication protocols, such as: CAN Backbone Via the CAN Backbone you can link multiple Thomas computers together in a network. You can then use a SmartLink-RM to connect a PC or modem to this network of Thomas computers. CAN Local Thomas communicates with the CAN I/O modules by means of the CAN Local. You can expand the inputs and outputs of Thomas Feed with the following CAN I/O modules: CAN-IO-8-9 CAN-IO-6-14 CAN-IO-LCA (D) CAN-IO-20-33 Ethernet Via Ethernet, it is possible to directly connect one Thomas computer to the Prisma management program. If you would also like to use the ThomApp, you will need to connect a SmartLink-RM to your Thomas via the CAN Backbone. ThomApp The ThomApp makes it possible to operate the barn computers remotely with your smartphone or tablet. After installing the software on your device, you can establish a connection with Thomas computers in the barn via the Internet and the SmartLink-RM and thus take control of them. The keys and screens in the app are exactly the same as those on your Thomas computer. This makes operation very familiar and allows you to control the barn computer quickly and accurately, no matter where you happen to be at that moment. Prisma Management Program You can use the Prisma management program to control Thomas Feed remotely from your PC or tablet. Ease of use and the graphical display are key factors here too. You can see at a glance an overview of all the barns in your company, which systems are active within each barn and whether an alarm has been generated. In the management program, various items of data are recorded that will keep you informed of, for example: The feed consumption The current silo contents The water consumption This data can easily be converted to tables and/or graphs so that you can analyze it quickly and easily.
