TABLE of CONTENTS PRESIDENT S MESSAGE, 1 CALENDAR, 2 BRANCH MTG PREVIEW, 3 BRANCH MEMBERSHIP RENEW- AL FORM, 4 NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS, 5 MTAC State Office News. OCC Branch Winners. Saddleback concerts. Theme Festival 2015. MTAC OCC NEWSLETTER MAY 2015 from Pamela Worcester PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Greetings OCC branch members! This is my last newsletter message to you as president. My term will not end for another couple of months, but I wanted to tell you what a pleasure it has been to be your president over the last 3 years. This is truly one of the finest MTAC branches in the state. We have had a wonderful 40 years and our new president, Nancy Lau, will help lead us into the next era! You are very fortunate to have such a warm, caring, creative, and intelligent (not to mention famous) person taking over as your president. Nancy, thank you so much for accepting this job! I want to thank the MTAC OCC board for their outstanding work. They have spent countless hours discussing pertinent branch issues at board meetings and are always ready to vote on urgent e-motions. I really appreciate their wisdom and generosity! Please attend the May 13th branch meeting to see the new board officially installed by one of our past presidents, Carol Sporleder. I hope you heard Rudolph Stein s beautiful performance of two J.S. Bach Cello Suites at our last branch meeting. This month our featured artists will be our own Marina Sakach (voice) and Victoria Rubinchik (piano). Editor: Lisa lwaki arioso.notes@gmaii.com Our Contemporary Music Festival was a great success thanks to Julie Nakamura and her many helpers: Deborah Glass, Donna Evans, Katrina Querriera, Goly Lessani, and Jamie Park. I really appreciate the way everyone worked to make this run so effectively. I especially want to thank Julie for chairing two festivals this year (Theme & Contemporary)! Just a reminder: If you want your festival packet back sooner than the upcoming branch meeting, please pay the postage fee. I am very sorry to say that it is no longer safe to leave the BBE s on teachers porches. Please do not harass the chairperson just because you cannot get your envelope back fast enough. This behavior will not be tolerated next year! Thank you to one of our esteemed past presidents, Laurie Meinhold, for chairing the CM Honors Recitals again. This is a huge job that required her to stay the entire day to make sure each recital ran smoothly. I also want to thank Lisa lwaki for creating such a professional looking branch newsletter. She has helped tremendously by looking at everything with a fresh eye and efficiently chairing our branch festivals. Lastly, I want to thank everyone who volunteered to help this past year. Your efforts make this branch a real winner. See you all very soon! ~Pam
