1. INTRODUCTION 1.1. Competition Goals The International Tchaikovsky Online Piano Competition for Young Musicians is dedicated in memory of one of the greatest composers, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893). This competition is held to motivate young pianists up to 17 years of age of different nationalities to master classical music repertoire and to provide them with an opportunity to be consulted by leading musicians and professors on their performance skills. It also provides the opportunity to perform on a global online platform as well as a chance to perform live with an orchestra. 1.2. Eligibility Eligibility The competition is open for participation to pianists of any nationality aged 17 years and under (applicants must be born after March 26, 2002). 1.4.Official languages The official languages of the competition are Korean, English and Russian. In case of misunderstanding, the primary language shall be English. The administration and/or the association shall not take responsibility for

any issues arising from or caused by the misinterpretation of translated materials. 2. APPLICATION PROCEDURE 2.1. Application deadline Applicants shall submit the online application form posted on the official website by March 1, 2019. 2.2. Application fee Applicants shall remit the entrance fee in the amount of $100 USD in order to participate in the competition. Payment may be carried out at the dedicated section of the online application form. 2.3. Adult consent Applications shall be submitted only with the consent of an adult entitled to represent the rights of the underaged contestant. 2.4. Application contents The application must include the following information and materials to qualifying for admission in the competition: Full legal name Country of residence Date of birth Copy of birth certificate, passport, or any other legal documents certifying date of birth Brief Curriculum Vitae (resume) that can be used for press or any other competition-related purposes (300-400 words) A color photo (from the waist up,.jpeg format, not smaller than 300 dpi, taken within 6 months before the date of application) that can be used on the website of the competition, for any kind of printing production, press releases, articles in mass media and other public purposes Copies of laureate diplomas of other competitions (if the applicant possesses any) Links to recordings of repertoire performances with full and clear descrip

2.5. Application upload requrements All the documentation, except video recordings must be uploaded directly with the online application form and submitted by the appropriate deadline. Documents must be in either.doc or.pdf format (convert your file to the appropriate format if scanning your document). 3. PERFORMANCE REPERTOIRE 3.1. Performance repertoire 3.1.1. First Round (2 pieces) One music piece of contestant s choice One music piece which is the 1st movement of any classical sonata (The total duration of the two pieces must be a minimum of 10 minutes) 3.1.2. Second Round (2 pieces) One music piece of contestant s choice One music piece by P. Tchaikovsky (which was not submitted for the first round) (he total duration of the two pieces must be a minimum of 15 minutes) 3.1.3. Final Round: (2 pieces) One solo music piece from 1st or 2nd round. Gala concert repertoire Contestants shall perform the music pieces chosen by the administration which were performed in the first or second round of the competition. 3.3. Repertoire changes Any requests to change the repertoire proposed in the application are not permitted. 3.4. Video recordings requirements In order to participate in the competition, it is necessary for candidates to upload video recordings of their performance to YouTube (for citizens of all countries, except China) or Youku (for citizens of China) in accordance with the repertoire requirements. The final round repertoire is not required for video recording submission. Each work, individual movements or excerpts should be uploaded as separate files. Clearly label each of the uploaded files with the full name of the composer, full official name of the composition, movement, key, duration, and edition. Recordings must be genuinely performed by the participant and must not be edited, nor should any effects such as reverb be added. Applicants hands and feet must be clearly visible. All recordings should be of decent picture and sound quality with a recommended minimum resolution of 1080p. 4. PROCEDURE OF THE COMPETITION 4.1. First and Second Rounds Participants of the first and second rounds are randomly divided into groups using dedicated computer software. Each group will be assigned a jury member who is chosen randomly by the computer program from the official list of jurors. The divided groups (list of participants with assigned jury members) will be posted on the official website of the competition no later than 2 days after the beginning of each round. One (1) participant from each group will qualify for the next round of the competition. However, the jury may additionally recommend one or more participants to qualify for the next round. Recommendations will be considered but all final decisions will be made by the administration. 4.2. Admission exceptions Previous winners of the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians and other competitions may have the right to participate as of the second round if determined acceptable by the administration. 4.3. Final Round Up to seven (7) musicians will be eligible for the final round. The competition jury, consisting of 9 members, will judge the finalists

performances accompanied by an orchestra. The performance order of the final round is to be determined by lot. If a contestant does not take part in the final round, he/she will be disqualified from the competition. 4.4. Gala Concert participation Laureates and diploma holders chosen by the administration must participate in the relevant gala concert. If the contestant refuses to participate without a valid reason, the administration reserves the right to cancel the competition result of the contestant and rescind any award. Laureates of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes must participate in the gala concert in Seoul. The administration may also invite diploma winners to perform at the gala concert. 4.5. COMPETITION JURY 5.1. Jury members The competition will be judged by a competent international jury that consists of renowned professors and performers chosen by the administration. 5.2. Judging Rules The duties of the jury will be regulated by rules developed by the administration. Any decisions made by the administration will be deemed final at every stage of the competition and will not be subject for questioning, review or appeal.

6. PRIZES AND AWARDS 6.1. Prizes The participants of the Third (Final) Round will be awarded the following prizes: 1 st prize - $15,000.00, and title of 1st Laureate 2 nd prize - $10,000.00, and title of 1st Laureate 3 rd prize - $5,000.00, and title of 1st Laureate Diploma Winners - $2,000 US Dollars (USD) 6.2. Prize division Any prize may be divided. In the case of a joint award, the prize money shall be divided equally. Other awards The jury and the administration may designate other special prizes and diplomas for the contestants if deemed appropriate. 7. OTHER RULES &INFORMATION 7.1. Dispute resolution In all disputes that may occur during the Competition the decisions of the Administration are final. 7.2. reserves the right to expel the contestant from the Competition. 7.3. Mass media communications During the Competition period, contestants must abstain from making any declaration to the mass media not permitted by the Administration. 7.4. Travel and accommodation To all the participants of the Third round and the gala concert in Seoul, the Administration reimburses the cost of round-trip economy-class or equivalent tickets (flight or travel by other transport) to Seoul, and up to 3- star accommodation for 3 days in Seoul. The Administration also provides transfer from the airport/railway station to the hotel and back. If the contestant wishes to book more expensive flights, or a longer or more expensive hotel to live a hotel stay, or if there is any disagreement over the proposed meals and conditions of the transportation, the contestant must pay the additional costs at the contestant s own expense. 7.5. Rights The Administration shall reserve exclusive worldwide rights to broadcast, publish and promote audio and video recordings as well as distribute and publish materials arising out of or relating to all of the rounds of the Competition and its related events, including the awards and closing ceremonies and the performances with the symphony orchestra in the final round and gala concerts. The Administration reserves the exclusive right to use the recorded audio and video materials free of charge and without obtaining the permission of contestants, conductors, symphony orchestras, jury members. The Administration reserves the right to transfer these rights to any third party. 7.6. Live broadcast The final round and the gala concert will be broadcasted live through the official website. 7.7. Insurance policy Health insurance, insurance against loss or damage of luggage and any other kinds of insurance is not provided by the Administration. 7.8. Visa support Participants in the Third Round and accompanying persons are responsible

for obtaining their own passports and visas for travel to the Republic of Korea at their own expense. The Administration recommends contacting the relevant consulate for information about visas. 7.9. Accompanying persons Expenses for travel and accommodation of parents or teachers shall be borne by the contestants. The Administration, upon a preliminary request, will endeavor to provide assistance in locating accommodation for these people. 7.10. Agreements In order to participate in the Final round, all the finalists must sign agreements with the SCU and the ATCS, which will be provided in advance. 7.11. Delay or cancellation The Competition may be cancelled or postponed under the reason of epidemics, fires, earthquakes, wars, riots, blocking or delay of traffic and other force majeure reasons. In the case of force majeure, the application fee is not returned to the contestants. If the Competition is cancelled or postponed for a period longer than 6 months by the Administration without any force majeure or similar reason, the entrance fee is returned to the contestants. 8.
