ABOUT THE FESTIVAL For 18 years we ve screened amazing films, held grown-up talks and workshops, and showcased the latest in entertainment technology. We are a credible springboard for launching films as UK or European film premieres and attract a smart, knowledgeable audience. We receive wide and enthusiastic coverage from London, UK and international media. Online, sci-fi-london.com delivers a yearround integrated portal with news, reviews, social networking and competitions and watchscifi.com is our VOD channel.

We run the world s biggest 48hr short filmmaking challenge which discovered Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One) and Daisy Ridley (Star Wars). It has seen 8 new features films made by alumna and we ve even had the first film ever made by an A.I. Thousands of filmmakers take part each time and we have created over 1200 original sci-fi films. Many go on to appear in other festivals and have won several awards.

ABOUT 48HR FILM CHALLENGE Each year, the challenge produces around 130 films in one weekend. The challenge jury is made up of industry judges, who have included Frank Spotnitz (Producer, The Man in the High Castle), Benedict Cumberbatch (Actor), Guillermo Del Toro (Director, The Shape of Water) and Ben Roberts (Head of BFI Film Fund). Shortlisted films are featured on our sponsors and partner s websites and all films go on social sites and watchscifi.com. At our challenge award ceremony our sponsors can do surveys, hand out goody bags, teeshirts etc. The rules of the challenge are simple: 1.
