You can gather around the table to talk, share, and laugh with each other. This year there will be a Scott County, YMCA, Turkey Trot run. Enjoy Thanksgiving with your family by watching the Macy s Parade and football on the TV with all of the family. Another way to enjoy your Thanksgiving is to help your Mom or Dad cook the Thanksgiving meal for the family, give your thanks, and just enjoy the day with a big huge smile. o National Pumpkin Day October 26th is when we celebrate pumpkins! National Days In October It is the perfect time of the year to celebrate National Pumpkin Day. Each year on October 26 people across the nation enjoy cake, pie, cookies, bars, pudding, coffee, smoothies, candy, breads. muffins, soups, cheesecake, oatmeal, lasagna and more, all made with delicious pumpkin etc. Pumpkin (squash) is native to North America. The oldest evidence of pumpkin related seeds dates back to somewhere between 7000 and 5500 BC and were found in Mexico. o National Chocolate Day October 28th is known as National Chocolate Day. National Chocolate Day is celebrated annually on October 28. While there are many chocolate related holidays throughout the year, National Chocolate Day is a day to celebrate all things chocolate. As America s favorite flavor, chocolate is well deserving of it s own day of honor and celebration. ( Some sources designated July 7 or December 28 as Chocolate Day or International Chocolate Day ) How is chocolate made? Chocolate comes from the seed of the tropical Theobroma cacao tree. Cacao, which has been cultivated for at least three millennia, is grown in Mexico, Central America and Northern South America. The earliest known documentation of use, of cacao seeds, is around 1100 BC. The cacao tree seed have a very intense bitter taste that must be fermented to develop the flavor. Some sweet chocolates are: Unsweetened baking chocolate cocoa solids and cocoa butter in varying proportions. Sweet chocolate cocoa solids, cocoa butter or other fat and sugar. Milk chocolate sweet chocolate with milk powder or condensed milk. White chocolate cocoa butter, sugar and milk but no cocoa solids. o Happy HaLloween!!!! October 31st is Halloween! treating, attending costume parties, decorating, carving pumpkins into jack o lanterns, apple bobbing, etc. Use #Halloween to post on social media. And to finish this off, Happy Halloween! :D By Megan McGhee & Lily Jewell The Wrong Parents When I was little, I used to wake up in the middle of the night and go into my parents room and sleep next to my mom. One night when I was about 5 or 6 years old, I had this really vivid dream where I woke up scared and went into my mom's room to sleep with her. When I went in, however, there was a set of parents on the bed and a set of identical parents on the floor. I instinctively knew in my dream that I had to wake the right parents because the wrong parents were evil. So I chose the parents on the floor. I distinctly remember thinking that the evil imposter parents would try to trick me. So I chose the parents on the floor. When I went over to the parents on the floor, they both opened their eyes. Bright glowing red light were where their eyeballs should have been. That was when I actually woke up. Being a scared little kid, of course I went right into my parents room to sleep next to my mom. There was a set of parents on the bed, and a set of parents on the floor. I literally peed myself. The "second set" of parents was actually a pile of unfolded laundry. But I will never forget the fear that struck my little 6 year old heart at that very minute. By Lily Jewell School Enrichments Here at Sudlow we get to pick a few things we would like to do for Enrichments. Here are some of my favorites. The Fantasy Football enrichment is really fun. You pick players from the NFL teams and build your own fantasy team. You play your friends team and see which team gets the highest score. Next on my list of dream enrichments is cooking. In cooking, you learn how to cook really good food like hand made cookies and many more. Next on my lineup is fitness because you do a ton of fun games like dodgeball, tag, and sports like basketball and many others.
