QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPLICATION/AUDITION: 1. All candidates must be 19 years of age or older by November 1, 2002. 2. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED. 3. No candidate may presently be affiliated with or be a representative of any other semi-professional or professional athletic franchise. 4. All candidates will be asked to demonstrate general gymnastic, tumbling and entertainment skills. An impromptu session will be held so that all applicants may demonstrate entertaining skills. 5. Candidates must be willing to devote a large percentage of time to the SBC Coyote Crew program, including attendance at rehearsals (two nights per week October 02 June 03), all designated games, community/charitable events and other mandatory appearances in and around the San Antonio Area. 6. Candidates must have reliable transportation and live in or close to the San Antonio area. 7. Candidates must demonstrate good moral character and be drug and alcohol free. Only candidates are allowed--no family or friends. Appropriate attire is athletic wear. Tennis shoes are required. No black rubber soles or hard sole shoes will be allowed on the gym floor. Applicants will not be considered without this requested attire. Tumbling mats, Basketballs and a mini Trampoline will be provided for demonstration of Dunking Skills. SELECTION CRITERIA: The following is a list of the San Antonio Spurs goals in the selection of the SBC Coyote Crew for the 2002-2003 season: Appearance SBC Coyote Crew members should possess a trim, athletic physique and a clean-cut appearance. Tumbling/Dunking/Entertaining SBC Coyote Crew members should be able to grasp basic tumbling movements quickly and assimilate them into a precise routine within a minimum amount of time. The crew members should perform with a sense of enjoyment and demonstrate team spirit. Previous dunking training is helpful, but not a prerequisite. A unique entertaining talent is helpful but not required. Personality A SBC Coyote Crew member s personality should be outgoing and pleasant. A SBC Coyote Crew member should feel at ease in front of large audiences as well as small groups. Since the Crew members will have opportunities to meet and talk with the media, professionals and the general public, it is very important that they are articulate and professional and appear relaxed. They should also be able to act spontaneously while maintaining composure at all times. Enthusiasm SBC Coyote Crew members should perform with enthusiasm, which is crowd appealing. It is important that the Crew members demonstrate their enjoyment for performing and show their support for the Spurs during games. As performers, the SBC Coyote Crew members must be able to reach out to the fans not only by means of their performance, but also through their smiles, eye contact and energy. Crew members must always be aware and understand that as role models they should present a positive image for the Spurs franchise. Dedication The time demanded of a SBC Coyote Crew member can be great; therefore, the Crew member must have a flexible schedule. Each Crew member must be prepared to dedicate a large amount of time to the program for rehearsals, meetings, performances, promotional appearances, community and charity events. Rehearsals will be scheduled twice a week before and during the NBA season, which runs from October to June.
