Dear Parents and Dancers, Joffrey San Francisco and Arrival Information With summer fast approaching, we hope you are becoming as excited as we are with anticipation of our summer intensives. In preparation for the program we have prepared this orientation and arrival packet for your review. It is chock full of information regarding arrival, on site orientation, parking directions, staff contact information, performance details and so forth. Orientation and Arrival Orientation and arrival times depend on whether or not you will be staying in our housing facilities. All students will attend orientation at the Little Theatre. Program Orientation is on Mondays at 8:00 AM. Detailed driving and parking directions (using Parking Structure 20 at the end of State Drive) can be found at the end of this manual along with a campus map. Dormitory Arrivals and General Information If you are staying at a Joffrey Housing on campus in MARY WARD HALL, you will receive an orientation for the housing facilities on Sunday evening at 7PM at the conference room in MARY WARD HALL. Check- In is every Sunday from 12PM to 4 PM and check- out will be on Saturdays from 9 AM to 11 AM. It is important that you email Alison McAllister if you will arrive outside of the check- in hours (alison@joffreyballetschool.com ). MARY WARD HALL is also located in area F2 on the campus map (South West Quad 3). MARY WARD HALL is located on the corner of Lake Merced Boulevard and State Drive. Parking for MARY WARD HALL is a short distance past the building on State Dive in Parking Structure 20. More detailed driving directions, including from area airports, can be found at the end of the packet along with a campus map. Airport Transportation We do not provide transportation from the airport. Two popular shuttle services from local airports are Super Shuttle (http://www.supershuttle.com/) or Road Runner Shuttle Service (www.rrshuttle.com/) Schedules and Class Assignment Your class assignment and schedules will be handed out at orientation. Class start times are staggered. If you are commuting you can expect that your first class will start at approximately 9:00 AM and end at 6:00 PM. Saturday class runs from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Schedules will be posted for the upcoming week at the dormitory each weekend. Those not staying in housing should email Vincent Perez, the program administrator, to provide the correct email address for Jody to send you the schedule each week. Changes to the schedule will be posted in the dormitory in the evenings (vperez@joffreyballetschool.com). Studio Locations (A campus map and parking instructions can be found at the end of the packet. The Joffrey San Francisco program is hosted by San Francisco State University (SFSU). Included in this packet is a campus map with all the buildings that house our studios and our dormitory identified by red circles. Our studios are Gymnasium 149, Fine Arts, W Room, McKenna Stage, Little Theater, Band Room, CA 23, and City College. More detailed driving directions can be found at the end of the packet along with a campus map.

This year, the Joffrey San Francisco program will have a satellite studio at City College located on 50 Phelan Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94112. All students will meet at SFSU. The group of students that will be having classes at City College (Studio- Wellness Center) will be commuting together from SFSU via a Joffrey chartered bus to City College. Joffrey RAs, chaperones, and faculty will also accompany the students during the commute. The Joffrey chartered bus will transport the students back to SFSU as soon as the class/rehearsal ends. The specific meeting point at SFSU will be announced later. Joffrey San Francisco will only be using City College studio on week 2 and week 3 of the program. Jay, Jarvon, and Annabelle can answer any of your questions regarding this exciting professional training program as well as arrange for you to be observed for admission while taking class, question and answer sessions with the Artistic Director, tours of the facilities and the year- round dormitory (Grove Street), and facilitate your application for financial aid. Dress Code and Merchandise The below dress code will be enforced and Joffrey uniforms must be worn in class with a student s nametag. Uniforms and Joffrey merchandise can be purchased from Tites Boutique at www.titesboutique.com. FEMALE: Ballet: Joffrey Black leotard, any pink tights and pink ballet slippers

Other classes: Joffrey dance shorts or pants with a Joffrey fitted T- Shirt. MALE: Ballet: Black tights, Joffrey T- Shirt, white or black Other classes: Black tights or Joffrey Bike Shorts, Joffrey T- Shirt, white or black Male and Female students in the Joffrey Ballet School Summer Intensive must purchase the required uniform. Please visit www.titesboutique.com to purchase uniforms Policies and Rules Tardiness to class will result in the student being asked to sit or leave the class at the instructor s discretion No street shoes are allowed in the studios. No food or drink is allowed in the studios. No gum chewing is allowed during class. No food or gum in any of the studios. Cell Phones must be turned off during class and stowed safely in your dance bag. Dance bags with valuables should be brought into the classroom and stored out of the way. The school is not responsible for belongings left in the locker rooms and other common areas. No warm- up clothes may be worn once class has begun. No jewelry is to be worn during class. All students must adhere to the Dress Code and wear their name tags. Students who arrive more than 10 minutes late to class will not be allowed to participate. If you are going to be late or absent from class, please call the office so we can notify the teacher. If you are late to class, you MUST check- in and notify the interns for attendance before entering class. We do not recommend that students under the age of 13 leave the building without a chaperone. Parents should meet their children in the school lobby. Tuition must be current or students will not be permitted to attend class. REMINDER! The weather in San Francisco will be quite chilly in the summertime! Please plan accordingly and make sure to pack the appropriate attire for the time you will be in the city. From the South: Take I- 280 North, exit at 19th Avenue. Take Junipero Serra Boulevard to Holloway Avenue, turn left on Holloway Avenue to campus at 19th Avenue. Daily permits expire at midnight. Two- day permits are available for $12. Exact change is required, machines do not give change. Pay stations will accept quarter, $1, $5 and $10 bills as well as prepaid debit cards. Blank Debit cards are available at the Parking Office.
