ABOUT THE HOST Japan Film Society The Japan Film Society is a non-profit 501(c)(3) arts and cultural organization founded to promote Japanese film and culture to the broad American audience. Every year it hosts the LA EigaFest, the premiere Japanese film festival in the US ( Eiga means Film in Japanese). The festival is unique amongst American film festivals as it focuses exclusively on Japanese content and that it takes place in Los Angeles, the entertainment capital of the world. ABOUT THE FESTIVAL LA EigaFest LA EigaFest showcases the latest Japanese and Japanese-influenced films that cater towards the American audience, introduces up-and-coming filmmakers and talent to the Hollywood community, and enhance s the communication and relationship between the US and Japanese film industries and thus create business opportunities. To date, the film festival has presented the Worldwide, International, North America, US, or West Coast premieres of more than 40 of the latest Japanese feature films including blockbuster hits such as Rurouni Kenshin 1 & 2, Lupin The Third, Unforgiven, The Floating Castle, Harakiri: Death of a Samurai, and more.
FESTIVAL INTRODUCTION LA EigaFest 2015 The Japan Film Society is proud to host its 5th Annual LA EigaFest. This three-day film event brings the best of Japanese cinema to thousands of American moviegoers and entertainment industry professionals. Events include film premieres, awards ceremonies, red carpet events, film competitions, after parties, Q&A sessions with directors and cast, business panels, and other special events. With four successful festivals hosted at the Chinese and Egyptian Theatres in Hollywood, increased attendance has allowed the Festival to expand in 2015, making its new home at the L.A. Live entertainment complex in Downtown Los Angeles. THE VENUE L.A. Live L.A. Live is a 5.6 million square foot (520,257 m^2) sports, entertainment, and residential complex in Downtown Los Angeles. L.A. Live is the host of the EMMY s and the GRAMMYs, and the Regal Cinemas L.A. Stadium is the venue of choice for Hollywood Red Carpet premieres. (http://www.lalive.com/ )
