The proceeds will support our mission to prevent and end homelessness in the Evansville area. The Gingerbread House Competition is our largest fundraiser, and with your help, we re committed to making the 2014 competition our sweetest yet. As you may know, the 2013 competition was cancelled due to a major winter storm that hit Evansville days before the event. It was truly heartbreaking for the hundreds of volunteers, staff, sponsors and competitors who had worked so hard, but for Aurora, it was also a tremendous financial loss. We re confident that we can regroup and come back even stronger this year! In 2012, more than 1,400 people came to watch 63 teams create beautiful and amazing gingerbread showpieces. Our sponsors, competitors, and guests raised nearly $39,000 for our cause. This year, we hope to raise $45,000 to help the men, women and children most in need! The outstanding amount of donated advertising services ($55,000 in 2012) and publicity around the event make this is a perfect regional marketing opportunity. About Aurora s Midwest Gingerbread House Competition Aurora s Midwest Gingerbread House Competition is a oneday fundraising event to support the organization s mission to prevent and end homelessness in the Evansville community. Over 50 teams from the local area and around the Midwest will participate by building, on-site, holiday wonderlands in the form of "Food Network-style" gingerbread houses. Competitors include professional teams made up of pastry chefs and artists from culinary institutions and area bakeries, in addition to local gingerbread house enthusiasts. The public is invited to watch the culinary challenge and vote for their favorite by donating dollars and cents! Guests will also enjoy exciting entertainment, a fabulous silent auction featuring over 150 items in a variety of price ranges, and a free, fun-filled kid s gingerbread workshop! Aurora s Midwest Gingerbread House Competition is a great opportunity for sponsors and donors to not only contribute to a worthy cause, but also reap excellent marketing benefits.
