For more information or to contribute to this scholarship endowment fund, contact ACT at (605) 225-2228. Welcome to ACT s final 2013 production Becky s New Car. We are ending the season with a splash, giving away a 2013 Scion iq donated by production sponsor, Harr Motors. I want to thank Jim, Barb, Kerry and Matt Harr for their community support and being such good sports by playing a part, literally a major role, in this production. You see, the car dealer where Becky works is Harr Motors. Well, it wasn t in the original script, but the author, Steven Dietz, agreed to let us change the name of the dealership as well as the kinds of cars sold. To be very honest, I was surprised he allowed us to do it. Over the years I have made several requests for changes in scripts and have been summarily denied. Just goes to show you, don t quit trying. Through his agent, I explained that we were raising $400,000 for a new 90 seat theatre in the Capitol Theatre, built in 1926 on Aberdeen s Main Street. As a part of that fundraising, we wanted to get a car donated to raffle and raise $50,000 toward the $400,000 goal, during our production of his play, Becky s New Car. He immediately saw the tie in and said, go for it. So we did. I m happy Steven Dietz granted permission and very happy Harr Motors became our production sponsor. Now you can help. We need to sell all 1000 raffle tickets before we draw the winning ticket, and it could be yours. Your $50 helps get us to our $50,000 goal. We want to give the car away at the final performance on Sunday, but we won t draw before all 1000 tickets are sold. We have had the raffle tickets available for only three weeks. So you can help. Please purchase a raffle ticket tonight and allow us to give away the Scion iq from Harr Motors this weekend. Just ask an usher or see us at intermission in the lobby or the Jane West Gallery. The cast will also be out after the show, and they would love to sell you the winning ticket. Your odds are definitely better than Powerball, and your support so much more appreciated. We hope you enjoy the efforts of our volunteers, on stage and back stage, new and veteran. Thanks for your help and thanks for attending Becky s New Car. I look forward to next season and you can become a subscriber for the best price by using the back page of your program. Thanks again. JAMES L. WALKER 2 ABERDEEN COMMUNITY THEATRE

CAST AND CREW NOTES LORI HARMEL (Becky Foster) was most recently seen in ACT s production of The Top Job! She has a long history of onstage and offstage volunteering at ACT. She and her husband Matthew, who is also an ACT veteran, have two children, Gabriel and Jillian. THANKS TO OUR 2013 SEASON SPONSORS CURT CAMPBELL (Joe Foster) was born & raised in southwest Missouri and began performing with his local community theatre when he was 15 years old. He moved to Aberdeen at the end of 2004 to be with his lovely bride. His first production with ACT was in early 2005 with Honk! and was last seen on stage in The Top Job! CHRISTOPHER RINKENBERGER (Chris Foster) is originally from Lisbon, ND. He feels that theater is a wonderful outlet that he is glad is a part of his life again and is proud to be a part of ACT. He can relate to his character in not knowing how life is going to turn out while at the same time, waiting for it to begin! He was last seen in the ensemble in Young Frankenstein. WARREN REDMOND (Walter Flood) has been practicing medicine in Aberdeen for thirty years and involved with ACT for twenty five years. The theater offers him a way to interact with people on a completely different level, along with providing an opportunity to be a different person for a short time. He has appeared in numerous productions at ACT and was last seen on stage as Doc in Second Samuel. SHLOMIT OREN (Kenni Flood) is currently studying psychology at NSU to become a Dance Movement Therapist. Passionate about the arts, she is a hula hooper, belly dancer, painter, writer, flute player, singer, mask performer and model. Additionally, she has toured as a clown with the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus. She wants to encourage humanity to make the world a better place through art and expression. GRANT CRABTREE (Steve) is a native of Ellendale, ND and a graduate of Jamestown College with a degree in Business and a minor in Theatre. After pursuing a career in radio broadcasting for 10 years, he returned to Ellendale, where he has been an insurance agent for the last 26 years. He has also been active in theater in Ellendale for 12 years as a producer, director and actor. Sally & Ka P. Squire Michael & Barbara Evans Bill & Karen Edwards ABERDEEN COMMUNITY THEATRE 7

CAST AND CREW NOTES JEN TURICK (Ginger) loves fast cars and the theater. Being a part of this show allows her to celebrate both passions. Jennifer has little in common with Ginger, but she relates to many of the lines spoken by the other characters. For me, Jennifer says, this show expresses my own fears and questions about life at middle age. The playwright honestly presents life s painful realities while simultaneously making us laugh. One thing is clear: I want a new car. JAMES L. WALKER (director) is an Aberdeen native. He had acted, directed and adjudicated professionally for more than 30 years and has been ACT s artistic/ managing director for 28 years. He has earned numerous directing and scenic design awards. Jim was appointed by the governor to the South Dakota Arts Council in 2008 and is a member of the American Association of Community Theatre s board of directors. BRIAN T. SCHULTZ (technical director) resides in Aberdeen with his wife, Juli, and two daughters. He is also ACT s education director and SBLT s director. Schultz received Best Supporting Actor at the AACT 2009 national fest for his role as Russ Renner in ACT s How to Talk Minnesotan: The Musical and Comprehensive Creativity in the 2013 AACT Region V festival for his work on The Top Job! HEIDI JENSON (technical assistant), a Watertown native, started with ACT in May 2010 with set construction for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Technical Theatre and a minor in Chinese Studies from the University of North Dakota and has been on the staff of the Huron (Ohio) Playhouse, Sieur Du Luth Summer Arts Festival, Skylight Opera Theatre in Milwaukee, WI and the Des Moines Metro Opera. SUSIE EWINGER (assistant director) has been volunteering for ACT for 25 years. She was last seen as Marcela in ACT s production of Second Samuel. MARILYN DAVIS (costumer) made her ACT main stage costuming debut for Anything Goes (2006), after costuming many YPT shows. Since then, she has costumed more than 25 shows. Davis received Best Costumes at the 2009 AACT Region V festival for her work in ACT s How to Talk Minnesotan: The Musical. MARILYN BURCKHARD (props mistress) is originally from Polo, SD, and moved to Aberdeen after graduating high school. After spending the last 16 years volunteering in several shows as props mistress, costumer, assistant director, stage manager and set painter, ACT has become her second family and home. PAIGE WALTH (sound board operator) Paige Walth (sound board operator/projectionist) has been involved in theater since she was 9 and was last seen as Morella in YPT s production of Edgar and Ellen: Bad Seeds! She loves all aspects of theater and has filled several roles onstage and offstage for ACT, YPT, SBLT, and Capitol Cinema events. ISAAC SEATON (light board operator), 14 years-old, is a YPT and ACT veteran actor. His ACT credits include Honk!, The King and I and The Pirates of Penzance, Jr. (2012). He enjoys electronics, acting, writing and taking walks. He says, I ve traveled to Japan with ACT s Honk! which was probably the most fun I ve ever had.
