34th SEASON June 27-July 28, 2019

Written by William Shakespeare Directed by Matthew Simpson A s You Like It, one of Shakespeare s most frequently performed comedies, is a hilarious tale of disguises and mistaken identities. Harold Bloom wrote that Rosalind is among Shakespeare s greatest and most fully realized female characters. June 27 July 4 6 12 14 2:00 P.M 19 21 All the world s a stage and all the men and women merely players. 25 27 Texas Shakespeare Festival is one of the top 10 cultural events in the state. John Paul Batiste, Texas Commission on the Arts Written by Garson Kanin Directed by Leda Hoffmann A June 28 July 5 7 12 14 18 20 25 27 Texas Shakespeare Festival Ticket Office (903) 983-8601 fter its opening on Broadway in 1946, Garson Kanin s comedy became the longest-running show on Broadway with 1,642 performances, a record it held for almost 30 years. It is the story of an unethical millionaire doing illegal business in Washington DC, while the behavior of his unrefined mistress threatens to spoil his plans. A funny play with an important message. A world full of ignorant people is too dangerous to live in. 1

June 29 July 5 7 11 13 18 20 26 28 Written by William Shakespeare Directed by Donald Carrierr One of Shakespeare s most famous tragedies, tells the story of a Moorish general and his disloyal ensign, Iago, who convinces him that his wife Desdemona has been unfaithful. The play deals with various themes, including love, jealousy, betrayal, revenge and repentance. Beware, my lord, of jealousy. It is the green-eyed monster which doth mock the meat it feeds on. indisputably the best Shakespeare Festival in Texas. Michael Barnes, Austin American Statesman July 17 18 19 20 25 26 27 Written and Directed by Grace Abele In this quirky retelling of Aesop s Fable, a young girl must save her town from the destructive force of a notquite-extinct monster while simultaneously learning about the destructive force of one foolish wish. Toss in a goatobsessed scout leader, a squash squashing granny, and a fairy godmother constantly plagued with legal woes, and you have a twisted tale that will delight young and old alike! TSF... is the premier cultural attraction in [East Texas]. Michael Barnes, Austin Theater Critic June 30 July 4 6 11 13 19 21 26 28 Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim Book by James Lapine Directed by Daniel Haley musical by Stephen A Sondhein and James Lapine, intertwines the plots of several well-known fairy tales as it explores the consequences of the characters wishes and quests. Be careful what you wish for seems to be the ongoing theme, along with the message that people must come together to save each other. Careful the things you say, children will listen. 3 Ways You Can Support TSF 1 Become an Underwriter, Producer, or Sponsor: Checks can be made out to the TSF Foundation and mailed to P.O.
