Tarzan Audition Information Spring 2016 Eligibility: Students ages 8+ enrolled in CYT spring classes. Auditions: Friday, February 5th starting at 4:30. Callbacks: Saturday, February 6th (8:30 to 12:30 ) Ending times may vary. Audition & Callbacks Location: Church at the Cross, 2901 W. Taft Cast List Posted: Sunday, February 7 th please check our website. 8:00 Sign up for an audition time online by visiting Signup Genius or by calling Sheryl Owings (316-250-9277). Step 1: Login to MyCYT page. Step 2: Click on View Confirmation for your student. Step 3: Click on link to Signup Genius page. Step 4: Click the Sign Up button next to your desired time. Step 5: Click the Submit and Sign Up button located at the bottom middle of the page. Step 6: Complete information and click the Sign Up NOW button. Have all your audition forms completed when you arrive. Check in at least 30 minutes before your designated audition time. First audition check-ins begins at 4:00 ; auditions will begin promptly at 4:30 and continue until all students have auditioned, possibly after 10:00. Please allow at least 1 ½ hours to complete your check-in & audition process. Call back requests will be posted on your CYT family page. We will not call, so you must check the website! Call back date & time: Saturday, February 6 th at 8:30 am-12:30. Please check in by 8:15 am. Call backs are a closed procedure. Please bring a water bottle (healthy snack optional). If you do not receive a call back, it does not necessarily mean you will not be cast in the show. Also, because you are called back does not automatically mean you will be cast. Music - Student must bring a single accompaniment CD (without vocals) or Sheet Music. The student may bring his/her own accompanist. The guest accompanist must be with the student at the time of check-in through completion of audition. Please note: An accompanist will NOT be provided by CYT. Audition Form - with all student information completed and with parent signature. List all conflicts with the rehearsal schedule on the form. schedule is available in this packet. Be thorough and specific about dates & times. Only conflicts listed on your audition form will be excused at the discretion of Show AC/Director. Costume Form complete with all measurements. Measurements need to be done before you arrive for auditions. Parent Committee Form filled out with order of preference (1st to 4th choice). Bring all FORMS listed above and PHOTO No a cappella singing; NO IPODs, MP3 players, or phones will be allowed in auditions. Auditions are limited to a one minute segment of your vocal selection. Do not sing a song from the show for which you are auditioning; this is considered poor theater etiquette. Choose a Broadway style show tune to fully display your vocal & characterization talent. No costumes or props are allowed. CYT dress code will be enforced. Walk-ins will be accepted on audition night. He/she must register for classes upon arrival and wait for an available audition time. Tarzan Production Information Spring 2016 s (First rehearsal will be on Friday, February 12th @ 6:00 ) s are usually held Fridays (6:00-9:00 ) and Saturdays (8:45 am to 12:00 & 12:30-3:15 ). For details on additional rehearsal times, alternate rehearsal locations and other important dates such as costume parade, please refer to the full production schedule. Some dates, times and locations are subject to change but will be clearly communicated on the weekly production notes. Production notes will be posted on your CYT family page or/and emailed every Wednesday. This information is a must-read to keep you informed on rehearsal call schedules, production information or any necessary changes. Tech/Show Week will be from Sunday, April 24th to Saturday, April 30th at Isely Traditional Magnet Elementary School located in Bel Aire at 5256 N. Woodlawn. There will be a total of five shows: one on Thursday, two on Friday and two on Saturday. Please note there will be a final dress rehearsal on Thursday, April 28 th at 9:30 am. No absences are allowed during tech/show week! Student Production Commitment Please Note: Although CYT strives to avoid costs beyond the required fees, some additional costume & make-up fees may be necessary. $80 PRODUCTION FEE (due at first parent meeting on 2/13/16): Fee of $70 for each additional sibling. Production fee helps cover costs such as costumes, sets and props. Please note that Production fees are not refundable. $25 BASIC MAKE UP KIT (due 2/13/16): (New students only) Contains cream foundation, 4-color contour palette with cream rouge, highlight, shadow lip color, face powder, powder puff, eyebrow pencil, flat brush, sponge applicator and stipple sponge. REHEARSALS: Cast members are required to be at ALL rehearsals for which they are scheduled and ALL shows. Cast members will be committed to approximately 60+ hours of rehearsal time before move-in and dress rehearsal week. Cast members may not leave rehearsal early unless cleared with Show AC/Director. TECH WEEK: Early dismissal from school may be necessary to meet required call times during tech week. This includes missing two full days of school for performances or dress rehearsals. No absences are permitted during tech/show week. CONFLICTS: Only conflicts listed on your audition form will be excused at the discretion of Show AC/Director. If an additional absence is necessary as the result of an illness or emergency, please contact the Show Area Coordinator ASAP! More than two unexcused absences may result in dismissal from the show without a refund. PUNCTUALITY: Cast members should make every attempt to be at rehearsals on time. Three late arrivals may result in dismissal from the show without a refund. Plan to arrive at every rehearsal 15 minutes early, ready to practice! Parents Production Commitment PARENT ATTENDANCE: Parents are required to attend all parent meetings. The first parent meeting will be held on Saturday, February 13 th at 9:00 a.m. It will be approximately 1 ½ hours in length. Check rehearsal schedule for other mandatory meeting dates/times. PARENT COMMITTEES: Parents are required to serve a minimum of 20-25 hours per child in show on a Production Committee(s). First, second, third and fourth choices should be noted on Parent Committee Form. The committees whose tasks predominately occur during tech week will be asked to help with other committees during the season. Please note all parents are needed to work during tech/show week. TICKET SALES: Families are required to help with show advertising and sell 10 15 or more tickets to the nonschool performances.

CYT Wichita Parent Committees Participating in a CYT production is an extra activity beyond CYT class. To present a production, parents are needed to help by joining parent committees. Each family is required to serve a minimum of 20 25 hours per cast member. Below are descriptions of the committees. Committee Chairs: Oversee their committee, work directly with Show Area Coordinator (AC) and Show Chair, manage and communicate with their committee, schedule meetings, assign tasks, manage budget, and request appropriate reimbursements from CYT Business Manager. The committee chair is responsible for the committee s success. Usually this person has previous experience working on their committee. The chair position is both preshow and show week. A more detailed description for each committee is available from the AC. Backstage* (Show week) Assist with moving sets on and off stage during dress rehearsals and productions. Must keep quiet backstage, show concern for safety of cast and crew, be flexible, and stay cool under pressure. Costumes* (Preshow) Assist costumer in locating and creating costume pieces, hand and machine sew, label, and organize costume pieces. Available for workdays during rehearsals and costume parade. (Show week) Repair costumes, direct fitting of costumes and quick changes, set up and tear down costume room, and launder and return all costumes to appropriate places. Greenroom* (Show week) Maintain order and discipline in a loving manner among the cast during dress rehearsals and shows. Supervise cleaning assignments, collect scripts, and distribute information as needed. Relay stage cues to cast. Hair* (Show week) Work with hair styling of characters. Available for possible early call times for dress rehearsals and shows. Historian (Preshow) Photo document cast rehearsals, costume parade, individual cast photos, and parent volunteers. (Show week) Photo and video documentation of backstage, greenroom, on stage, and parent volunteers. House (Show week) Serve as usher, assist with ticket sales and theater maintenance, work well under pressure, and enjoy dealing with the public. Make-up* (Preshow) Assist with training and make-up checks. (Show week): Assist with make-up application and checks for all dress rehearsals and shows. Program (Preshow) Assist in the preparation of cast bios and congratulatory ads. Help generate ad sales for playbill. Must have computer skills, be attentive to details, and show excellence in editing and proofing. Props* (Preshow) Solicit, collect, buy, or make props for the show. Must be creative on a small budget and enjoy thrift store shopping. (Show week) Work backstage to organize, provide and maintain props for cast. Assist in return of borrowed props or packing up for storage. Public Relations (Preshow) Organize and oversee the distribution of show flyers and posters. Publicize the show in the community and create a photo display for show week. (Show week) Set up and take down photo display. Parents (Preshow) Provide oversight and supervision for rehearsals with large numbers of cast members. Enjoy working with large groups of kids. Available during rehearsal times. pianist (Preshow) Skilled pianist to accompany rehearsals. Arranged with Artistic Director. Sets (Preshow) Work on construction, painting (both artistic and non-artistic), and decoration of sets at the warehouse. Mainly accomplished during rehearsal times. Help load, transport, unload and set up sets at theater on Super Saturday. (Show week) Available for repair of sets, helping strike stage, and moving sets back to warehouse after the last show. Special Activities (Preshow) Solicit donations of family-friendly items and services from area businesses. Assist with gathering and displaying of items in baskets. Acquire and prepare souvenirs, flowers, candy grams, and refreshments to be sold during shows. (Show week) Maintain proper security of donated items while on display and sell tickets during shows. Sell souvenirs, flowers, candy grams, and refreshments before, during intermission, and after shows. Tech* (Show week) Assist with lights and sound beginning Friday night before Super Saturday. Highly intensive job, requiring attendance at all dress rehearsals and shows. Should have experience working with sound/light equient in CYT or some other forum. *If on the committee for Show Week, requires a commitment to serve at all dress rehearsals and most shows.
