1 Welcome to ENCORE! We re glad you re here and look forward to working with you. ENCORE is a non-profit Educational Theatre Company that strives, through arts education and mentorship programs, to instruct students in all aspects of the performing arts and to teach life-skills and instill values that translate to the world beyond the stage. This production of Shakespeare s Romeo & Juliet is open to ages 13-adult and is by audition only. All potential cast members must pay a deposit prior to scheduling and audition. If not cast in the show, the deposit will be refunded in full. Age Requirements: Rehearsal and Performance Information Ages 13 through Adult, by audition ONLY Auditions: Wednesday, March 1, 7:30p 9:30p Callbacks: Saturday, March 6:30p 9:30p; Sunday March 2p 5p; Tuesday, March 6p- 9:30p; Saturday, March 6:30p 9:30p Audition/Rehearsal Location Encore Studios, 3555 Lomita Blvd, Suite E, Torrance, CA Rehearsal Times: Wednesdays beginning March 7:30p 9:30p Tuesdays beginning March 5:30p 9:30p Tech Week: Monday, April 17 Wednesday April 19 Performance Dates: Fridays April 21 & 7:30p; Saturday April 7:30p; Sundays April 23 & 2p; Sunday, April 6:30p We plan to work with local schools to take the show to them for a Field Trip performance. Those performances would be held during the school day. Currently we have planned field trips for Tuesday & Wednesday, April 25-26, although that may change. Please indicate on your audition form whether you are available for these performances. 2 Tuition and Fee Information This production is by audition only. All participants MUST pay a deposit of $200 (or full tuition for adults) prior to being given an audition appointment. If cast, remaining tuition is due by 3/21/17. Student Tuition: $425* ($200 Deposit due prior to auditions; remainder due 3/21/17) Adult Participants: $295* (for any adult over age 27) due prior to auditions * Deposit/Tuition is fully refundable if not cast in the show. Tickets: 20 tickets per family (due April 18, 2017) Registration Guidelines You MUST register online at through the Account Login link on the main page, then the Productions link on the Login/Enroll page. All of our policies/procedures and waivers are now digitally signed online through the online registration system. Once you have registered and paid your audition deposit, we will send you a link to sign up for an audition. Please fill out the following forms (one each per cast member unless otherwise noted) and bring them to Registration. Page 3 Audition Form - Attach a recent photo to the back of the form) Page 4 Conflict Form Page 5 Volunteer Form Audition Process Each cast member MUST sign up for an individual audition appointment online. Come to your audition with a prepared 2-3 minute Shakespeare monologue. A dramatic monologue is preferred, but nothing too heavy. As a second option you MAY prepare a monologue from classic American theatre. If a cast member is invited to come to callback auditions, they may be informed anytime between March 4 & March 11, Callbacks are scheduled for: Saturday, March 6:30p 9:30p Sunday March 2p 5p Tuesday, March 6p- 9:30p Saturday, March 6:30p 9:30p Auditionees will be given a script or portions of the script called sides, and instructed how to prepare for callback auditions if they are called. Some people may be called for more than one day. We are unable to schedule callbacks around conflicts. If you are unable to come to your scheduled callback audition, we may not be able to consider you for that lead part. Once the final casting decisions have been made the cast list will be sent via & posted on our website at Casting is a very time-consuming process. We know it is difficult, but please be patient! We will notify you as soon as we possibly can. 1/17

Rehearsals are generally Tuesdays and Wednesdays, March 15 April 12. You must list ALL CONFLICTS so that we may plan our specific rehearsal schedule. Tech Week is Monday April 17 Wednesday, April 19. Performances are Fridays, April 21 & 28, Saturday, April 22 and Sundays, April 23 & 30. Fieldtrip performances are planned for Tuesday, April 25 & Wednesday, April 26. Those cast in this production may be required to appear in every performance. Cast members are expected to be available for all rehearsals during Tech Week and all performances. If you are not, you may hurt your chances of being considered for a lead part. Check one I am available for all Tech Week rehearsals and for all performances, including field trip performances. I am NOT available for one or more of the Tech Week rehearsals and/or Performances and I understand that this may hurt my chances of being cast as a lead or the number of performances I am assigned as a lead. I understand that missing rehearsals NOT listed on the Conflict Calendar, even if they come up later, MAY result in my being removed from a lead or featured part. 5 Name Show: Volunteer Policy We are not able to provide the quality production experience we do without the very significant efforts of every family involved. Therefore we require every family INCLUDING ALL CAST MEMBERS OVER 18 to volunteer for one Pre/Post-Production job. Every family is also responsible for at least two jobs during Tech Week. Those jobs are NOT listed on this form. We will post a specific Tech Week volunteer schedule online a few weeks before Tech Week so you can choose the specific dates you want to work. Buyouts: We recognize that some families have life situations that preclude them from volunteering at all, therefore we offer the option to buyout of volunteering for a fee of $150. Pre-Tech Week and Coordinator Selections Please check the jobs you are most interested in. Please consult the Volunteer Opportunities in your registration packet for complete job descriptions. These are the Pre-Tech and Coordinator jobs only. Tech Week jobs are NOT listed here. Tech Week signups will be available online two weeks before Tech Week begins. 6 Pre-Tech and Coordinator Volunteer Opportunities *Tech Week Meal Coordinator - Plans meals, takes orders, places orders, and arranges for food to be picked up and served to cast members during dinner break the whole of Tech Week. Casino Night Committee-Help with preparations for our Casino Night in the Spring. May include planning and helping with decorations, soliciting donations, organizing Silent Auction materials, Registration, and more! Costume Fitting Assistants - Help pull costumes and get them organized and help with the fitting of cast members on costume fitting days, getting them labeled, organized and packed. Set Construction/Painting - Help to build, paint and decorate the sets. Experienced carpenters might work on projects at home prior to workdays where others can do finish work and painting. Costumes - Several people needed to help cut, sew, glue, iron, shop, or otherwise help assemble the various looks determined by the Costume Designer. Experienced seamstresses would be especially appreciated, but willing hands are always helpful! Laundry helpers - At the Encore Scene shop, wash, dry and hang costumes back in the costume storage area. General Labor/Office helpers - We occasionally need help with a variety of jobs not specific to a show, such as running errands, organizing props at the Encore shop, cleaning the Studios or Shop, filing, data entry or any number of other things. If you are available during the day and would be willing to do some of these, sign up in this category Errand Runner We often need help picking up the many things that go into the show. This job requires that you have access to a car, are potentially up for significant distance driving ( Los Angeles/Burbank), and are available on weekdays during business hours. Other We know you are all very talented people. Please feel free to list any talent you feel you can contribute on the previous page. *This job fulfills ENTIRE Family Volunteer commitment. No further pre-tech or Tech Week jobs required
