The NOCCA Times February, 2016 Artists Needed Musical Theater Tulane s Summer Lyric Program is holding auditions for their upcoming 2016 season. The actors selected will take part in the shows Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Big River. The auditions will take place: - Friday, February 12 at 6:00 p.m. for Actor Equity & Equity Association Members. - Saturday, February 13 at 9:00 a.m. for actors ages 8-16, (Vocal & Movement Auditions), 12:00 p.m. for actors ages 17 & up (Movement Call), and 2:30 p.m. for Actor s Equity Members (General Vocal Auditions). - And Sunday, February 14 at 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (Callbacks as needed). Actors ages 17 and up must bring sheet music in the proper key. Music should be in a book or 3-ring binder. Cuts should be clearly marked. An accompanist will be provided. Prepare two contrasting songs, 16-32 bars. Songs should show vocal range, acting ability, and should be in the style of shows in our season. You may be asked to sing only one song. For the dance call you should wear clothes that you can comfortably move in. Women are encouraged to wear character shoes and men in jazz shoes. If you do not own the proper footwear, tennis shoes will do. If you are an adult tap dancer, please bring your tap shoes. There will be a short combination for Thoroughly Modern Millie. To schedule an adult vocal audition, please call (504) 865-5271 between the hours of 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. M-F. Performers should arrive at Dixon Hall 30 minutes prior to call time. Actors ages 8-16 must bring sheet music in the proper key. Music should be in a book or 3- ring binder. Cuts should be clearly marked. An accompanist will be provided. Prepare one song, 16-32 bars. Song should show your vocal range and personality. All performers 16 and under will learn and perform a short bit of choreography, so wear comfortable clothes. Vocal and movement auditions will begin at 9:00 a.m. Youth performers should arrive at Dixon Hall between 8:30 and 8:45 a.m. Prior registration is not required. 4
The NOCCA Times February, 2016 Artists Needed Drama - Tulane s Shakespeare Program is seeking professional union and non-union actors with a strong command of classical text. Auditions will be held at Tulane University s McWilliam s Hall on February 12th from 5:00p-8:00pm and February 13th from 11:00a-4:00pm. - Actors interested in auditioning should send an electronic headshot and resume to Chaney Tullos at ctullos@tulane.edu. - Actors should prepare a Shakespearean monologue, approximately one minute in length. If so, join the Community Engagement Committee to create a lasting impact in your community. Our committee has put together events such as the Community Volunteer Day at Press Street Gardens, Canned Food Drives, and Middle School Outreach. The NOCCA Times February, 2016 Featured Artist of the Month: Matt Lemonier Jellymun Matt- I m a part of a band, Mental The NOCCA Times - How do you feel when you're creating and performing your work? Deficiency, and I ve been working on a Matt Lemonier - When I m song called Jellymun. It s about my life making music, I feel fantastic. and about moving to New Orleans on my I feel like I can just be my own. I lived in Slidell and had been crazy self, be the person I am commuting everyday for my first three behind closed doors. My silly years of NOCCA, but I hated commuting it was too much stress on my brain to be staring mindlessly at the road for an hour and a half every day. So at the beginning of this year, I told my parents that I wanted to move very close to NOCCA, living in New Orleans. The song, Jellymun, reflects on my experience living in NOLA and the idea that you should not listen to others when they tell you something is impossible. With the right amount of focus, time, and effort, it can happen. personality comes out in my along. There s this one children s TV music; my close friends and family show I love to watch called Galinha know me as the silly guy, so it s not Pintadinha (literal translation: new for them.
