COLIBRI YOUNG SOLOISTS 2016 INTERNATIONAL PRIZE 1st Edition The Associazione Libera delle Arti Founder body of the Pescara Colibrì Ensemble Chamber Orchestra, is organizing an International Competition for young soloists. The first 2016 edition will be dedicated to the CELLO ANNOUNCEMENT OF COMPETITION 1. ENTRY RULES AND REGULATIONS Deadline The expiry date of this announcement is 21 March 2016 at 12 midnight; Age and Nationality Persons of all nationalities, born after 31 December 1990 can take part. Entry Entry procedures are as follows: Online registration: Participants must access the website www.colibriensemble.it and complete the competition entry form (Application Form A) and send it by email to segreteria@colibriensemble.it by 12 midnight on 21 March, 2016. The Associazione Libera delle Arti will not be responsible in any way for any delays, losses or errors in sending and receiving communications. Required entry documents - The entry form (Application Form A) must be accompanied by the following documents: - Copy of passport or identity document; - Two recent colour photos (in digital format); the photos must be free of copyright. - Curriculum vitae compiled on form provided (CV Form B); - A reference letter from a well-known musical exponent - The receipt of payment of the 50,00 entry fee made by bank transfer. The reason for payment must show "Entry fee to Colibri Young Soloists 2016 Prize". The transferred amount must be net of costs from both the ordering bank and the receiving bank. The entry fee will not be refunded under any circumstances, including in cases of the competitor being excluded from the competition for any reason and in case of the withdrawal of the candidate. Incomplete applications will not be accepted unless the competitor completes the application within a period set by the Competition Secretariat. 2. PRE-SELECTION The examining board will draw up a list of competitors based on their curriculum vitae. The top 25 will be selected for the competition. The examination of the documentation submitted by each competitor for admission to the competition shall be entrusted to the examining committee, whose decision is final. The final list of candidates accepted for the competition will be published on the website www.colibriensemble.it by 21 April, 2016 The candidates admitted to the competition, in order to formalize their participation, must
present receipt of payment of the 100.00 participation fee made by bank transfer within 15 days from publication of the list of candidates accepted. The indicated reason for payment must be "Participation in the Colibri Young Soloists 2016 Prize. The transferred amount must be net of costs from both the ordering bank and the receiving bank. The competitors who fail to make payment of the entry fee within the indicated deadline will be excluded from the competition and the rankings will be updated accordingly. Successful candidates who, for any reason, cannot or no longer intend taking part in the competition must notify the secretariat to this effect in writing. In this case too, the rankings will be updated accordingly. Under no circumstances can the entry fee be refunded. 3. COMPETITION RULES Call Admitted applicants must personally attend the call set for 9 May, 2016 at 9 am at the Head office Auditorium and Rehearsal Room of the Colibri Ensemble Chamber Orchestra of Pescara, located at the Città Sant'Angelo Outlet Village in Via Moscarola - Città Sant'Angelo (PE) and produce a valid identification document (passport or identity card). Failure to attend the call will result in the applicant being excluded from the competition by the Examining Committee. The order of performance of the competitors will be selected according to the extracted letter of the alphabet, before the start of each stage of the competition. All auditions will be public.
Competition stages The competition will be divided into three stages: First Round 9 May, 2015 with the participation of 25 selected competitors Semi-finals 10 May, 2015 to which 10 competitors will be admitted (45 min each) Finals 11 May, 2015 to which 5 competitors will be admitted Competition The competition will be staged in the Head office - Auditorium and Rehearsal Room of the Colibri Ensemble Chamber Orchestra of Pescara, located at the Città Sant'Angelo Outlet Village in Via Moscarola - Città Sant'Angelo (PE). [A14 Pescara Nord] The official pianists of the competition will be available free of charge and a rehearsal can be performed before each stage of the competition. Competitors may use their own accompanying pianists at their own expense. All related rights (including transmission and reproduction on medium, as well as all rights of reproduction including photographic, audio-video or web relating to the competition) belong to the Associazione Libera delle Arti, which may use them without any obligation to pay any consideration to others. Audio and video recordings, radio broadcasting, television, via the Internet, the live streaming of the competition and the award ceremony, as well as any events connected with the Prize itself will also be made. The final performance will be open to the public. Jury The panel of judges will consist of at least five cellist members of international renown recognized for their experience, skill, integrity and impartiality.
Chairing the panel will be Maestro Enrico Dindo. Persons with family relations or affinities up to the 4 th degree with one or more competitors may not be members of the International Panel of judges. The members of the panel of judges who have or have had public or private teaching relationships with one or more competitors in the two years preceding the beginning of the performances must abstain from taking part in the discussion and from casting a vote on the competitors performances. This abstention shall be explicitly mentioned in the minutes of the commission. Pursuant to the above, when the panel of judges is installed, each member shall make a statement on his personal situation with respect to the competitors. The panel of judges, at its discretion, may decide to have performed only a part of the compositions on the program and shall be entitled to interrupt the performance of the candidate at any time it deems appropriate. In order to ensure performances are staged in a proper manner, the panel of judges shall also be entitled to interrupt the performance of a candidate at any time, if, for technical reasons or for other reasons not attributable to the competitor, the performance cannot be duly staged. The Chairperson of the Panel of judges, in agreement with the Associazione Libera delle Arti, shall nevertheless decide on any issues occurring during the course of the competition and which are explicitly contemplated by these Regulations. The Chairperson s decision shall be final. During the course of the competition, the competitors shall be strictly forbidden from contacting the judges. At the end of the preliminary performances and semi-finals, the Judges shall convene to pass judgement on each competitor. A ranking will thus be drawn up according to the number of favourable votes cast by the judges for each competitor (ADMITTED NOT ADMITTED to the next stage). The judges, in the semi-final assessments, shall take account of the elimination stage and, for the finals, also the semi-finals, in order to express an overall judgement of the competitor. After the elimination stage and semi-finals, it is customary for the judges to meet the rejected applicants to comment on their performances.
The competitors who go through to the finals will be judged with a scoring system (1 to 6). The average score of each competitor will be used to draw up the ranking of merit. In case of a split vote, that of the Chairperson of the panel of judges shall be worth double. No blank votes will be allowed. 4. PRIZES The First Prize is indivisible. In order to maintain the high quality of the competition, a score will be set by the Panel of judges below which the First Prize will not be awarded. The 2 nd and 3 rd prizes will be equally placed. 1st Prize - 1.000,00 + Award plaque - Solo Concert with the Colibrì Ensemble Chamber Orchestra (the winner of the competition undertakes to take part in the award concert to be held on 21 May at 9 pm in the Flaiano Auditorium. Board and lodgings on 19-20-21 will be borne by the orchestra) - 2 cello and piano duo concerts in a number of Italian concert seasons 2 nd Prize - 500,00 + Award plaque 3 rd Prize - Award plaque 5.
