FILM DEPARTMENT OCTOBER 2006 Report Prepared by: Jennifer Parramore Film Commission Director The Association of Film Commissioners International is the primary international educational and professional association for film offices around the world. Its annual educational event is Cineposium, held this year in Pasadena. CVB film department director Jennifer Parramore attended in October, for educational and networking support. Experts conducted seminars on topics including tax write-offs for film investment, marketing trends, digital and internet location services, and working with studios. While in California, Parramore also held meetings with a Disney executive on a possible project, and with LA liaison Susan Simms on several pending items. Our work with several independent film producers continues actively: we organized a custom scouting trip for Crawling at Night. Our hotel partner was the Belleview Biltmore Resort. Promotional materials were sent to Kimberly Wetherell ( A Pretty Girl ) for a script reading in New York for prospective backers. Film commission manager Guy Balson also helped her get renowned actor Marian Seldes to participate in Ms. Wetherell s reading.
