Our performing arts instructors are all highly T H E A T R E C O M P A N Y trained theatre professionals, looking to give each participant a great class experience and foster their love of the arts. Our mission is to enhance and advocate artistic excellence through teaching, learning and expression. PERFORMING ARTS ACADEMY The Premiere Theatre Company s Performing Arts Academy offers instruction in core acting principles, improvisation techniques and exercises to challenge each actor as they progress through the program. Classes include script writing, playwriting and improv, among others. See page 118 for more information. PERFORMING ARTS OPPORTUNITIES Premiere Theatre Company Internship The Premiere Theatre Company offers a volunteer internship for interested high school or college-aged students. This opportunity offers experience in behind-the-scenes technical skills, business and box office administration and various production assignments. Interns must be available Mondays and ednesdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for 6 weeks, as well as performance dates. To schedule an interview, please call Kyle at 630-966-4548. Drama Theatre Guild Private Coaching The Fox Valley Theatre Guild is a group of adults in the Fox Valley community interested in performing arts and supporting the arts in the community. Their goal is to provide opportunities for adults to perform and expand their skills both on stage and off stage. PAGEANT COACHING In addition, they endeavor to create initiatives to expose underserved youth in the community to the performing arts. The Theatre Guild Board of Directors meets monthly on the first ednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.; all are welcome to attend. Quarterly general membership meetings are also held and interested adults are encouraged to attend. In the Spotlight New orks Playwright Festival Play Submissions The Premiere Theatre Company is accepting submissions for the second annual New orks Playwright Festival. Plays may be formatted as full-length (30 to 100 minutes) or short works (30 minutes or less). Plays must be unproduced and original, and adaptations are accepted, but not translations. Plays that have previously received a workshop or university production are considered unproduced. More than one submission is allowed per playwright. At this time, we cannot accommodate musicals for the Festival. Several plays will be chosen for staged readings at the annual new orks Playwright Festival, which will be held at Sept. 19. Playwrights may direct or choose a director, and casting/rehearsals are the responsibility of the playwright. The Premiere Theatre Company will host auditions for interested playwrights in August to seek additional actors. Rehearsal space is available at Prisco for interested artistic teams, and each play will receive one technical rehearsal on stage the week before the festival. Early bird submission fee is $20 per play for plays received before June 10. Submissions after June 10 are $25 per play and due no later than June 30. If a play is chosen, production fees are the responsibility of the playwright and must be paid by Sept. 1: $85 for full-length plays and $25 for short works. Production fees include a technical rehearsal and the performance. Join the Peanuts gang in this fastpaced, lighthearted musical, guaranteed to please audiences of all ages! Actors, including ensemble performers, are needed to portray a variety of characters, and all adults are welcome to audition. Those auditioning should prepare a short song and monologue. A group of high school teens experience friendship, love, trust, betrayal and everything it means to be a teenager in today s world. There are several leading, supporting and ensemble roles available; all experience levels are invited to audition. Please prepare a short contemporary monologue. Additional monologue options will be available at Prisco beginning June 30. An initial in-rehearsal workshop will give teens an opportunity to help adjust and strengthen the script with the original playwright. All participants can have pictures taken in class each week, choosing one photo to be printed and taking home a CD of their images on the last day of class. Enjoy choirs, choruses and chords with these music offerings for beginning musicians and more advanced maestros. Adagio Music Studio The Fox Valley Park District s Adagio Music Studio provides a quality music education in a friendly, fun and professional atmosphere. Our music instructors are active musicians with excellent training and a passion for music education.
