Large characterization is encouraged. Required Vocal Audition: Please read audition requests carefully and be prepared for your full audition. Auditionees will be tested in the following areas: ear test: recall (3-5 notes), pitch matching (3 notes), sight reading (3 measures) Required Interview: Please take a look at the rubric for the total audition and familiarize yourself with the expectations for this production in the areas of COMMITMENT, WORK ETHIC, RESPONSIBILITY, ATTITUDE, and INTEGRITY. You will be asked 1-2 questions regarding these areas during your individual audition. Callback: Vocal callback material is available now outside the PCHS choir room by the theatre callboard. Reading callback material is also outside the PCHS choir room by the theatre callboard, at www.pinecreektheatre.org, and on the Thespian Facebook page. You may or may not be asked to sing these songs on 11/29. You may also be asked to sing initial audition music again on 11/29. There will be 30 minutes to work with other characters who are called back to sing/act with prior to performing your callback on 11/29. Know your part; you may not get to work with everyone. It is to your advantage to learn callback music for multiple roles, put the odds in your favor for attaining a role. Preparation for roles: It is not enough to just sing the song assigned to a character. If you are serious about obtaining a role, you should stage the song as the character when you perform, no matter which role you are hoping for. It is also necessary to do this for the callback music when you are singing with another person, to the best of your ability in the time given. You will want to consider how the character would perform the song. Standing and singing as yourself is NOT to your advantage. There will be many students trying to obtain these roles and it is best to show the directors what you are capable of doing with a role; how else will they know? If you are interested in roles beyond the musical selections provided, you must incorporate how you see the other character(s) you are interested in into the music you are assigned to sing. 4
