CSCourier Newsletter April 2014 The Extrusioneers New MIDEX-HSS 2.2 Cast Film Winder The expert for thick films. Winding of thick and stiff films is technically demanding. But it doesn t need to be expensive. With the new MIDEX-HSS 2.2 cast film winder Reifenhäuser Cast Sheet Coating offers an efficient and reliable solution for this special application. Page 2 > Editorial Dear reader, K 2013 is considered the touchstone for new technologies and innovations. For Reifenhäuser CSC it was a complete success. In the last issue of our Newsletter we already presented to you our new polishing stack technology. Within less than half a year we have sold 10 polishing stacks in the high-tech segment. Owing to the huge demand of the market for properties such as short set-up times, precision, force and reproducibility, this technology will be available for all types of our polishing stacks in the short term. In addition to our constant development in the high-tech segment we offer components for the production of film products that put you under strong cost pressure. These components feature the same high quality as all Reifenhäuser components, but are matched to specific film products as far as their functional characteristics are concerned. Read more about our new MIDEX HSS winder and our REIcofeed C feedblock in this issue. We want to earn your trust to make Reifenhäuser CSC your reliable partner also in the future. Dr. Jochen Hennes
CSCourier April 2014 MIDEX-HSS 2.2 Cast film winder (film path) High winding quality Contact winding, contact winding with contact pressure control and centre drive, or gap winding with centre drive: Changing between winding modes is possible without problem during production. Wrinkle-free guidance of the film in the longitudinal cutting direction is ensured by a spreader roll arranged in the film inlet zone. Edge and centre trims produced by web slitting can be sucked off and refed into the extrusion process. Two tension measuring rolls are arranged in the inlet zone and in front of the winding station to control the web tension. The level of the web tension is infinitely adjustable. High reliability In many winders the film is electrostatically charged. This is not only unpleasant to the operating staff, but may become a safety risk, depending on the environment, for example in production halls where colours are worked with at the same time. For that reason, MIDEX-HSS 2.2 is provided with a discharge system which improves both safety and winding quality. In addition, the winder is equipped with all CE- relevant safety devices in accordance with machinery directive 2006/42/EG. Low production costs Owing to its large winding diameter of 1200mm, the volumetric performance of MIDEX-HSS 2.2 is 44 percent higher than of winders with 1000mm winding diameter. The number of reel changes and the resulting waste production can be drastically reduced. A further pluspoint of the new winder is a changing time of only 45 seconds. Auxiliary devices like a crane assembly support the operating staff in returning the winding shafts after reel change. Winding shafts of 3 and 6 can be used. Both types are suited for all standard bobbins. Safe crosscutting of the film web is ensured by a flying knife with special blade holder. User-friendly operation The winder is operated via a 23.6 touch PC. Basis of the visualisation is the proven Wonderware InTouch system. Drive is by means of the reliable Siemens SINAMICS drive technology. The optimal and safe function of MIDEX-HSS 2.2 is ensured by a safety PLC of the 300 series. : Winding modes: contact and gap winding with centre drive Nominal widths: from 1600 mm to 3200 mm Working widths: 1400 mm to 3000 mm Winding speed: max. 250 m/min (depending on nominal width) Film thickness range: 15 µm to 350 µm Winding diameter: max. 1200 mm Winding direction: clockwise/counterclockwise (optional) Number of webs: max. 8 (depending on nominal width) Contact: Mark Borutta T +49 2241 481-842 mark.borutta@reifenhauser-csc.com
New REIcofeed C Feedblock Efficient production in the mid-segment In addition to the time-tested REIcofeed 1.0 and 2.1 feedblocks Reifenhäuser Cast Sheet Coating has available now a new feedblock that is specifically designed for mid-segment demands. Up to five layers can be laid onto one another by the new REIcofeed C. This technology is the right choice for all customers who don t need to make frequent product changes and whose products have similar layer structures. Helmut Meyer, developing engineer at Reifenhäuser Cast Sheet Coating says: With REIcofeed 2.1 we have a high-end feedblock in our portfolio that works perfectly for all applications. However, most of its benefits are not used in low-end applications. This is the reason why we have complemented our product range and launched REIcofeed C as a perfect match to the production of, for example three-layer CPP film. Producers of such applications must not do without the relevant functions, but can save half of their investment cost compared with REIcofeed 2.1. The centralized coextrusion bolt can easily be cleaned without dismantling the die. It is suited for use in cast film lines, sheet lines and coating lines. The technology can be tested in the Technology Centre of Reifenhäuser Cast Sheet Coating. High flexibility is ensured by an exchangeable distributor plate integrated in the upstream deflector to vary the individual layers. REIcofeed 1.0 REIcofeed C REIcofeed 2.1
CSCourier April 2014 Reifenhäuser CSC representation in Poland DEREI: Jerzy Bieńkowski Customers need a reliable contact close to them. Reifenhäuser CSC needs a representation with high technical competency and the ability to communicate with the customer in his language. The cooperation between DEREI and Reifenhäuser began in 1980. At that time, Poland had little in common with today s modern Poland. Neither was it allowed to run a private agency nor to be employed with a company from West Germany. A cooperation was only possible with Jerzy Bieńkowski being employed with a national office of foreign trade. The first Reifenhäuser line sold was a line for the production of binder yarn from PP, supplied in 1982, says Mr. Bieńkowski remembering his first sales success. The line is producing binder yarn until today, but now the company is planning to invest in a new line. The first possible opportunity to establish an own company was the fall of the Iron Curtain. This was the time of Solidarność und Lech Wałęsa. In 1991, DEREI and Reifenhäuser sealed 25 their partnership with an agency agreement. Poland is a very interesting market for Reifenhäuser CSC. Beside lines for the production of PP film and barrier composites, also multi-layer lines featuring twin-screw technology (Reitruder) for direct extrusion of PET (virgin/flakes) for thermoforming applications were successfully installed. Our customer s satisfaction beyond signing the agreement and particularly during the time he is operating the line is our primary goal, explains Jerzy Bieńkowski. The whole DEREI team assists and advises our customers in Poland in all questions concerning the operation of their lines. This includes the supply of required wear and spare parts, visits of technicians and advice for updating the machines. 0,6 Amazing facts 46 years old is the Reifenhäuser cast film line type ST 150 A installed at a German customer in 1968 where it was reliably producing until it was sold now to Sweden. 100 µm thin was the PET film produced by Reifenhäuser Cast Sheet Coating at the open house exhibition in the Technology Centre during K2013. 1500 visitors attended the open house in Troisdorf.
