REGISTRATION CONDITIONS The competition is open for students of classical solo singing or young performing artists of any nationality. We announce the 7 th National and 2 nd International József Simándy Singing Competition in three categories 1 ST CATEGORY Music students in basic and secondary level training (only Hungarian contestants). 2 ND CATEGORY Bachelor s Degree Students (or 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd year university students in the pre-bologna system) or Students in three- or four-year Colleges (contestants of any nationality) 3 RD CATEGORY Master s Degree Students (or 4 th and 5 th year university students in the pre-bologna system), as well as young performing artists, born after 1975 (contestants of any nationality). THE COMPETITION HAS TWO ROUNDS 1 st round: Local selections 2 nd round: Final in Szeged BOTH ROUNDS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. 2

The number and coordination of the contestants will be determined following the local selections. The finalists will be notified at their e-mail address. 3

PROGRAM OF THE FINAL IN ALL THREE CATEGORIES A classical song or aria A romantic song or aria A 20th century composition A song or aria of free choice A free choice song or aria in honour of József Simándy Caccini: Amarilli or a composition by Kodály, Bartók, or Liszt In the final, contestants are required to sing max. three pieces from this program: a free choice composition by the contestant and two pieces chosen by the jury. The order of performing of the pieces can be decided by the contestant. Required timing of the program: 1 st category : 10 minutes 2nd category: 12 minutes 3rd category: 15 minutes All pieces should be performed by heart and in their original tonality and languages. PIANO ACCOMPANIST As a rule, accompanists are not provided by the organisers. However, accompanists may be hired during the Final at an additional cost of 5000 HUF / 20 EUR, payable together with the registration fee, including one rehearsal and performance at the Final. 4
