Teams can be made up of 1-15 members. From experience, less is more. Each participating team must have a representative at the official kick off event of Snakebite's 48 challenge. At the event, each group must submit a complete team leaders agreement, signed by its team leader. A team may not participate without submitting this agreement. Also at this event will be a GENRE SELECTION CEREMONY. Each team will choose the gene of its film in a random drawing.
Each team will draw from two groups: group #1 and group #2. The team may decide which one you choose to use for their film. There will also be a wild card option: teams may swap both out for one more pick, but MUST go with this option. In addition to this, teams will be awarded extra points upon competition screening at the September arts rising festival for COMBINING BOTH genres they received. I.e. If a team pulled "Silent film" and "western" and produce a silent western judges will award points accordingly. No trading genres with other teams. REQUIRED ELEMENTS: The prop outlined in the kick off package must be seen on screen. The required line of dialogue must be used vebatium, but may be sung, spoke, or written. It may be used in any language, but if the line of dialogue is unclear, there must be a translation. To qualify as an official entry, each groups film must be in the genre it selects, and must contain all required elements within the official time period. The teams chosen genre must be clear and easily discerned. CAMERAS: Any type of camera or filming device may be used. MUSIC: Participating groups are encouraged to work with a composer and/or musicians to write and record music for the films. It is permissible for a participating group to use pre-recorded music; however the participating group must have the rights to any music used in its film and must provide releases for all music used. As with music, pre-recorded sound effects are allowed, but you must have rights to use them. Note: Song parodies (i.e., use of identifiable preexisting compositions with new or altered lyrics or music) may not be included in the film without a signed release from the composition's rights holder.
