The Flemish-Netherlands cultural institution Ons Erfdeel vzw The Flemish-Netherlands cultural institution Ons Erfdeel vzw has a dual aim: - to increase awareness of Flemish and Dutch culture abroad - to promote cultural cooperation between all Dutch-speaking people The institution seeks to achieve these objectives by publishing and distributing books and periodicals in Dutch and other languages and by organizing events, debates and other cultural occasions. The Ons Erfdeel offices in Menin, just off the border between France and Belgium.
Ons Erfdeel. Vlaams-Nederlands cultureel tijdschrift Circulation: 3,500 copies Approximately 95% of readers are subscribers The largest general cultural journal in the Low Countries, Ons Erfdeel contains articles on literature, the visual and plastic arts, music, theatre and film, as well as on a wide diversity of social phenomena in Flanders and the Netherlands. The journal also devotes a great deal of attention to language and cultural policy. 2017 will mark the 60th anniversary of Ons Erfdeel. The journal will be given a makeover and the anniversary will be suitably celebrated. Ons Erfdeel also has its own blog (www.onserfdeel.be) and organises several events with external partners each year. The journal is also represented annually at several major book fairs in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Septentrion. Arts, lettres et culture de Flandre et des Pays-Bas Circulation: 4,500 copies Approximately 90% of readers are subscribers This French-language journal aims to present the culture of Flanders and the Netherlands to a French-speaking public. It offers an impression of literary, cultural and social life in Flanders and the Netherlands, and also devotes a great deal of attention to the mutual influences between the French and Dutch-speaking worlds. Septentrion is a genuine passeur de culture. It presents the culture from its own language area in the language of its target readership, French. For 45 years, this has given Septentrion a unique place among European journals. Septentrion also has its own blog (www.septentrionblog.be) and organises several events with external partners each year. The journal is also represented annually at several major book fairs throughout the Francophone world.
Who reads Ons Erfdeel and Septentrion? The readers of these periodicals are looking for quality and depth. Our research shows that the readers of Ons Erfdeel and Septentrion are well educated; more than 80% have a university background. Readers have wide-ranging cultural interests, read several books per year, take a quality newspaper (both print editions and online), regularly visit museums and galleries and enjoy attending theatre and dance performances. These readers are willing to spend relatively large sums in order to be able to participate in cultural life. Subscribers to Ons Erfdeel are distributed throughout the whole Dutch language area. Most of the subscribers to Septentrion live in France, the French-speaking region of Belgium, the French-speaking region of Switzerland and even outside Europe (e.g. Québec).
