THE THREE MUSKETEERS Character List (Please note that many of these roles can and may be doubled based on audition turnout.) D ARTAGNON: The Young Cub. Idealistic, ambitious, heroic and naive. Life long dream is to be a Musketeer. Willing to plunge head first into any seemingly honorable cause usually without thinking. However he learns quickly along the journey what true honor means. Excellent swordsman but inexperienced in life and death dueling. ATHOS: The Mountain. Courage of a lion and a bit dark and dangerous because of a secret past. Might be the best swordsman in all of France. PORTHOS: Lives large and lavishly. Loves clothes and women and is as good fighting with a turkey leg as with a sword. ARAMIS: The Saint. Handsome to a fault. Trying to atone for past sins but cannot resist earthly temptations, especially woman. Has a hot temper that flares in an instant. Superior swordsman, fights like a surgeon. SABINE: D'Artagnon's younger sister. Precocious and very bright but a bit of a pest. Wants to embrace the world of adventure and experience all that it has to offer. A flower ripe and ready to burst into full bloom. Since she is D'Artagnon's sister, she also happens to be very good with a sword. CARDINAL RICHELIEU: Ultimate evil politician. He is dark and manipulative and looks out for no one but himself. Powerful, intelligent and very dangerous. ROCHEFORT: Henchman to Richelieu. Wears an eye patch and has a scar on his cheek, most likely from duels of the past that went bad. But still very agile with a sword. Use caution when approaching him. MILADY: Beautiful, brilliant, precise and the most dangerous woman in all of France. Has no problem kissing a man and then killing him. Surprises up her sleeve and can duel with the best of men. TREVILLE: Captain of the Musketeers and the Kings's Guard. An excellent leader, commanding and fair. A superb swordsman and soldier respected by all.
CONSTANCE: Lady in Waiting to Queen Anne and fiercely loyal to her a Queen. She will do anything to protect her. The only thing that distracts her from her duty to the Queen, is her love at first sight with D'Artagnon. She has the truest character and purest heart in the play. THE KING: A petulant entitled King. Relatively self consumed and doesn't want to rock the boat. He listens to Richelieu but holds his ground. Enjoys a good party. THE QUEEN: Anne is Queen by political marriage. Therefore seeks affections elsewhere with the Duke of Buckingham nearly causing the downfall of the King. While she does not really love the King, she wants to protect him at all costs. Her natural enemy in the court is Richelieu who is trying to reveal her affair. D ARTAGNON S FATHER: Loving father who has taught D artagnon everything he knows about sword fighting. Has a significant fight scene in the beginning of the show.
