Sectio 3 Istallatio This sectio provides step-by-step istructios for istallig ad cablig the cable termial i the subscriber s locatio. The cablig diagrams show i this sectio iclude the followig cofiguratios, both with ad without PPV optios (STARFONE ad STARVUE II): Stadard wirig A/B Switch-out A/B Switch-i If you are addig a VCR or stereo compoets to the cofiguratio, see Sectio 4, Addig a VCR or Stereo Compoets, for cablig suggestios. Before You Begi Before begiig the istallatio process, do the followig: Look at the TV set or moitor to determie if it is a stadard TV or a composite (basebad) moitor. Make certai you have the correct coectig cables. Make certai you have the correct coectig cables for the audio coectors. Determie if you are goig to coect a VCR to the DCT 1000 cable termial. If the subscriber locatio requires a A/B switch-i, a A/B switch-out, or a STARVUE II or STARFONE module, istall these optios before begiig cablig. Istallatio of these uits is described i the istallatio istructios provided with them. After istallatio is completed, the cable termial should be placed o a smooth, flat surface with o obstructios to iterfere with the free flow of air over, uder, ad aroud the cable termial. Tell the subscriber that othig should be placed o top of the uit. Istallig the DCT 1000 To istall the DCT 1000 i your subscriber s site: Refer to the sectio that describes the cablig for the subscriber s cable termial cofiguratio: stadard wirig (page 3-2), A/B switch-out (page 3-4); or A/B switch-i (page 3-6). 1 Follow the geeral istructios as you do the cablig. 2 Perform the basic operatioal check begiig o page 3-8 after you successfully istall the cable termial. 3 Check the troubleshootig suggestios o page 3-9 if you have a problem with the operatioal check.

3-2 Istallatio Geeral Cofiguratio Istructios The DCT 1000 cable termial is available i umerous cofiguratios. The cablig for each cofiguratio is illustrated i this sectio.
