As the festivities of Christmas fade away, we are delighted to welcome in 2018 with the best of New Year s resolutions - to bring more thrilling entertainment than ever to the city! And taking us into spring are some truly exceptional gigs, shows and concerts. For any of the 9.9million Strictly viewers missing the Saturday night dance extravaganza, there s a chance to experience the incredible talent of some of the show s favourite dancers - Aljaz and Janette, Brendan Cole, Oti Mabuse and Ian Waite will each be appearing in three different up-coming productions. As ever, the stand-up comedy season is packed with national favourites from Katherine Ryan, Joel Dommett and Sarah Millican to Ed Byrne and still maintaining his record breaking run of shows in Cambridge Jimmy Carr! Headline gigs to look out for include cult Finnish band Apocalyptica recreating metal masterpieces on four cellos, Erasure, Vaccines, Franz Ferdinand, Heather Small, Levellers, Stranglers, Icons of the 80s (Go West, Nik Kershaw, Cutting Crew) and winner of Britain s Got Talent, Tokio Myers. Ahead of Cambridge Folk Festival comes a winter taster to lift the gloom; City Roots, now in its second year, brings an array of top artists to various venues across the city, including acts at the Corn Exchange like English country sibling sensations, Ward Thomas, Gambian kora virtuoso Sona Jobarteh, Rich Hall and Tom Robinson. Among the family shows coming up, kids can look forward to something very special, as beloved TV characters Teletubbies take to the stage for the very first time! And for classical devotees, as well as an appearance by Nigel Kennedy, internationally acclaimed concerts include European Union Chamber Orchestra, Russian State Philharmonic and Orchestra in Residence Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, featuring soloist and Artist in Residence, Esther Yoo. So, a happy new year and we look forward to seeing you soon here at the Corn Exchange.
