PREPARING FOR YOUR AUDITION Each ensemble will be made up of 12-15 young artists who are interested in collaborating to create a new theatre work - this will mean performing, writingand devising. We are interested in learning about you, your talent, what you are curious about, what you want to learn, the theatre you love and want to make and the artist you are and want to be. You will have ten minutes to show us the following: Task One [2-3 minutes] This is your opportunity to show us what you can do perform a monologue, a poem, a song; anything that best reflects who are and what skills you have. Task Two [2-3 minutes] We want to see your interpretation of the show s theme, with something you have written it could be a monologue, a poem, an impassioned speech. We are curious about the things you are interested in exploring. Be prepared to discuss your thoughts and ideas. Young people who do not wish to perform but would love to participate in creative roles such as directing, writing, design and technical roles must complete both tasks but they won t need to be performed. You might like to show us your writing, artwork, or speak to us about what inspires you. THINGS TO REMEMBER Auditions may seem scary but they re really not, they are an opportunity for the creative team to get to know you. We understand you might feel nervous, but it s important to remember that auditions are a small window of time where we can get to know you and what you re interested in, so come prepared and be honest. Remember: We re excited to meet you and we want you to do well. YOUNG ARTISTS ENSEMBLE 5
